Ive never owned one or fished one. Perhaps some good deals can be found now on eBay and such. I wonder what they plan to replace it with??
Very good!
Ive caught the same fish twice in one day. I was working upstream and caught a nice 16'' brown. Fishing my way back down i caught him again 10' away from the first time, at least he took a different...
9wt is a little much for Erie tribs. If you get a chance to get a 7wt 10' maybe try that. As for loosing fish at your feet, it seems to happen a lot when you new to steelhead fishing. You need to...
My dream setup is a nice 7'6'' 4wt bamboo, alconite stripper guide with a vintage hardy reel.
All I can say is you tend to get what you pay for. If you want a quality rod, put up the $$ for one. If you want a beater rod to lend your friends who are learning get a cheap-o rod. Dont expect much...
Perch and fried catfish are my two favorites. Rainbows from Round Valley in NJ are very good as well. Nice pink flesh.
Ghost salmon as I call them, half dead and white. By mid Nov. they are usually all gone though. I hate when im steelie fishing in late Oct. any those ghost salmon take your flies.... nasty.
I have a KA-BAR fixed blade, strait edge knife I like. Very sturdy knife good for many things.

I already have a half week and another weekend booked to stay up there in November. Its my favorite time of the year. I need to start tying some flies...
I will be wet wading this Sunday possibly in the Adirondacks. It might be a little cold (air 80s, water 60s) but why not. Its still summer. Im 25 and been fishing for well, 20 years! I guess it...
Haha, bombs away!
Thanks for all the offers. Unfortunately the state was lovely enough to not give us our raises or bonus this year so the extra cash I should have had is not around. So a new setup isnt in the cards...
Since I have been talking about steelhead here is my biggest from last season on the Salmon River in NY. And no, I dont smile in fish pictures. :D

Yea the crowds can be crazy, more so during salmon season. If you avoid the popular spots, go on weekdays you can get plenty of room though.
Ive been looking at some youtube vids on the topic. They all say, wait for the fish to turn before setting the hook.....
clearwater, i think you need to have 20 posts or so on this forum to use PMs.
You can email me at twism86@hotmail.com if you dont want to post what you have publicly.
Steelhead on dries. One thing ive never done.
Whats the model arrow?
Thanks for the offer, however, im looking for something newer. I would love to own a SP though, given their extreme popularity. Not now though.... Hopefully someone else sees this and takes you up on...
Ive never made it to the Erie tribs. Its a big of a haul from where I am and there are plenty in NY i still need to explore. One day Ill get out there im sure.
Yea im not into the Salmon circus. Ill go up once or twice early when they are around but only if I know there are some steel to be had as well. I agree with you on the flows, as a shore fishermen...
Of last Sept when the river hit 17K!! Yes, still dependent on rain, but if the reservoir gets full early the season should be good.
I would love to see a massive return of Atlantics. Esspecially in Lake Ontario where I do my salmon/ steelhead fishing. I have only caught one from the river in 2 years.
