Starling for me too!
Wow Scott, I really enjoy seeing your SBS's. Your photography is excellent (when compared with anyone elses), and your descriptions are precise and to the point. Keep up the great work.
I like this one... looks wooly bugger fishy!!!
If texture shows in your photo, then you probably have focused more on the background than the fly. Make sure the fly is in focus, and your f-stop is wide open. You won't have any more trouble with...
+I agree... great fly
Okay all you comedians... I just so happens that I was in a fly shop last year that had a package of "fake" jungle cock. It was impossible to see the "fake jungle cock" due to the packaging,...
I agree... REAL nice Scott
Scott... did you get a new camera? These last two SBS's are excellent.
Personally I don't think you can ever do better than the Master... I don't have one, I only have a Traveler, however I've used the Master and it is one great vise. ;)
Scott you get better and better every time I see an SBS... Keep up the good work! :D
Spun green deer hair in the shape of a Christmas Tree.
Isn't that a Bluegill bugger?
That looks like a great tenkara fly!
I like fly's tied with the hackle pointing forward. This seems to attract fish like no other!
I will donate a dozen (or more if I have time)... PM me and let me know where to mail them.
I agree... however I do use a lot of Tiemco BL (barbless) hooks in those sizes.
I'm sick of it! Not buying UTC again... It happens on both 70 and 120 in any color... I had troubles with my black.
I would definitely use a burner. Mainly because of the problems of keeping a cutter sharp, but also because it is faster, and you already are holding the feather in the burner tweezers which makes...
I use biots on my wets also. Only because it is a "natural" element of the fly. I realize that you could argue about dubbing, but I mean "natural" as in feathers... It just works better for me.
A tossup between a TMC 100BL and a 900BL for me too... I tend to buy the 100BL more because it is what is most predominately available at the fly shop I use. But, they are pretty much interchangeable.
I use paint brush bristles for these long tail flies... what do you use?
You definately are TOO LATE! Here is one way to KNOW!!!
1) you have the fly-tying e-board email you whenever there is an update, or new post on flys.
2) you don't ignore the update e-mail,...
I think this is the first "floating" fly that I've seen that WILL float. WITHOUT floatant.
I like this one also... It is easily tied, and incorporates a lot of color to catch the eye of the crappie.
