It will work!!! I mix zelon or other similar synthetics in my BWO and midges all the time. Greatly increase durability and "repuffability". Still use Frogs Fanny but less often.

It is a fun stream to break the winter doldrums. They put some big fish in there so that helps. They are smart and have seen a lot of flies by now. sometimes you have keep changing flies...
My rule of thumb is -When in doubt go Gold. I do have a number of pattern I use the glossy black on, but they are also primarily dark patterns. Only a few that I use silver for.
My first on is TV related. I have cut out most TV watching. The next step is- I am either exercising or tying flies if the TV is on. I think I will tie more flies and watch less TV :)
