Yes, Mt LeConte in the Great Smokys National Park got 3 inches. But you have to go way up high in the mountains to see any of that.
Townsend didn't get any snow at all - not cold enough there.

Weather's supposed to be beautiful this weekend... lows in upper 40's, highs in mid to upper 70's. Fishing is said to be very good in the Park. From Little River: Nymphs seem to be doing best but...
Good thing Vicki is coming...
..................................with her first aid kit!!!
Jean - what time? Maybe that will give folks a good time to shoot for.
Vicki, Andrea and I will be coming in Friday morning. Oh yeah, we're in room 12 at Doc's. Looking forward to seeing y'all!
Jack's right, the weather is looking perfect. Water is a bit low, but...
Ah ha! So that's my problem!
Save your money for Little River Outfitters... I've got a camera. :)
I rather like that... more of a down home feel, a "Gathering". First weekend of October is a pretty good time frame. Summers tend to be awfully hot... with sometimes low water... and having to...
Hey Jack, we could use the same kind of check in spot as we used at the MIFI. We've got a similar tent/pavilion thingie if needed.
John
I haven't yet... but, now that you mention it and got me thinking that way I just might. Heck, let's try 'em both ways.

I was speaking dry fly. There are two that I'd suggest: An elk hair caddis but with an orange body. Or, an orange stimulator.
Some folks suggest yellow for those two flies as well.
Another...
Tim - felt is good. That's all I use. Some places are pretty slick - like Abrams Creek - where felt with studs might be better.
If you were to take an excursion to some of our tail waters...
The one that comes to mind... and hopefully there will be a bunch... October Caddis is a good one. Stimi's are pretty good too. (Assuming we're talking mountain streams and trout.) Decent sized...

My wife likes to try it now and then. If she gets some female company then she'll be more likely to fish. So, maybe we can get the two of them.............
Tell Jean - YES! Window units, but they work fine. By October we might even be able to leave the windows open and enjoy the fresh air.
We're looking forward to seeing you guys!

Come and join us... my wife and I have only tried fly fishing for a year and a half now. This is about fellowship and throwing a few flies... catching is a whole 'nuther thing. I'm still trying...
Oh yeah... fishing license info:
If you fish in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park then you'll need either a TN license or an NC license - no trout stamp needed (both licenses are good...
Got my reservation at Dock's already.
That's the only motel I've stayed at in Townsend. Most of them look good from the outside, but not having stayed in any I'd hate to...
Sounds good to me, Jack! Not that I've learned how to catch 'em, but I do know a few spots thereabouts.
