Those old wooden handled Rapalas are the ones I have, 4, 6, 7 1/2, and 9in. My 4 1/2in. Rapala hunting knife is laminated steel (Swedish Moro?) and holds an awsome edge.

Spoonplugger said it straight out, use the smallest guides that will pass your knots and connections and you have the correct size guides for your flyrod. Cheffy also made an excellent point.
A good sharp Rapala hunting knife can't be beat for cleaning fish. Ditto, the Rapala filleting knife (sized to match size of fish) can't be beat for filleting fish. Keep the knife sharp!
Thank you all for the good information.
That's what I call it. I can't find a pattern for a 'White Gnat' anywhere I've looked so I figure it's called something else.
I like to tie a fly with a pattern identical to a Black Gnat except with all white materials to use as a dropper for Bluegill, Shellcrracker & Crappie. Or in a Blue line stream as the only fly....
I love an Orange Stimulator in #6 or 8 to imitate a wasp under wasp nests in bank bushes down here in Alabama. Add a dropper that looks like a wasp larvae or a Black Gnat or hares ear variant and...
Fine painting, beautiful work! Ah, yes, talent. Talent, plus several thousand hours of practice, (work by another name), and maybe sometimes you get something this good. I read somewhere that the...
I love it when people talk around the question and act like they answered it. Three hundred sixty-five thousands of an inch (.365) is smaller than .370in. by five(5) thousands of an inch. I Finally...
It looks like that $5. flyline will work well in the garden with tomato stakes.
I ditto all the good words. My father had 8 years sober when Lung cancer took him in 1978. From his example I don't have this problem, thank the Lord. God Bless us all.
I'm with you, Gnu. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I like the 91% medicinal alcohol. I use it in the alcohol lamp too.
...or the oblivious cell phone user.
I'd like to read that article. Will someone please tell me why "Warm Water" is so difficult to find, and Why? How do I get there from here?
I completely agree with "rods for casting & rods for fishing". I normally fish at distances ranging from 15 to about 50 feet with the same 6wt. moderate action graphite rod. By double hauling and...
That is an excellent site with lots of good information.
I've had very good results with ThreadMaster light with white silk adding no thinner. I like Cabela's disposable brushes#A, 24 brushes for $3.99. I cut about half of the bristles off to make the...
I'm curious. I wonder how many people do they have working on how many repairs? Did the parts need to be made or ordered?
The Forhan, or other, locking wrap is not necessary if you use old fashioned snake guides or any double footed guide, But is necessary for any single foot guide. Not personal preference, just common...
The Forhan Locking Wrap is the best locking wrap I've seen so far. I use it for all single foot guide wraps from the smallest, 4mm. B/CLAG Alconite, to the largest, a 30mm. spinning guide. When I...
One more vote for the CC system and flyrods that load with 10 to 50 feet of line. Also, Moderate to Slow actions with the fast recovery of graphite or modern fiberglass.
You can't beat a canoe. See if you can find a used 12 or 13ft. canoe for solo or a 15 to 17ft. for taking a fishing buddy in the boat with you.
You need to train her a little better. My wife has actually told me, "Go fishing, you'll be in a better mood." True, I swear.
How about a site for those of us with canoes instead of kayaks?
That's what I said, and Bluegill222 said the rest of the story.
