I broke an o-ring a few years back. Guy at the shop gave me a new one. Old screw type traveler here. Rapidly approaching 20 years of flawless service.
Another Mike Holt fan. This is a great site for learning rotary techniques. Right now he has 98 patterns all tied with full use of a rotary vise. I subscribe.

True you do not need a book. You can preserve any critter at all with only borax and salt. Fly Tying Materials is where I learned this in the first place. There are some good tips in the book as to...
Fly Tying Materials by Eric Leiser. Covers most game birds.
I just crush them in the jaws of my Traveler. Never had a problem.

According to the "Complete Book of Fly Tying" by Eric Leiser, Dette used white silk thread to criss-cross the quill body then coated it with spar varnish. Supposed to make the white silk disappear....
I understand. It drives me nuts when someone lists some obscure hook and I have no idea what they mean. Looking at the hook in the fly I posted I doubt that it is even a mustad . Barb looks too...
On most Northern Maine mud bottom ponds we have a hatch the locals call The Giant Green Drake. I had tried over the years to come up with an effective, easy to tie pattern for this amazing hatch. I...
