Not sure why everyone feels the need to trash these flies. Looks to me like they'd be killer on still and slack water. Obviously they aren't meant to replace traditionally hackled flies......
As others have said... Soft Scrub w/ bleach... nothing better. Followed up with an applicaiton of U-40 Cork Seal.
Forget about it.

Is this the source of the unidentified fly tying material used in the "hairy weenie" series of flies?
Thanks Grizzly Wulff, rizeye, and Paddy... The information is much appreciated and will hopefully be put to good use.

Flush floating patterns (Comparaduns, Parachutes, etc.) will outfish standard hackled dry flys.

LittleJ,
I don't know what sparkle emerger yarn is, but I use regular sparkle yarn for my caddis sparkle emergers. I just unwind the yarn and comb it out to straighten and remove the short...

I would highly recommend you either get extra spools for your reel, or buy an extra reel or two ( even if they are $20 cheapies ), and spool the lines on before you go -- You'll be glad you did.

Chris,
Looking at the Wapsi catalog, it's doesn't show that the UTC Holo Tinsel comes in orange.

It's possible that they do make it in orange, but the...
I'd echo what others have said, and say you'd be best off with a good 8 wt w/ a sink tip and floating line.

I think what Normand is trying to say - in a not so subtle way - is that his name is Denny Rickards.
I think if you want to rib over the shellback, go for it. Denny Rickards is free to not rib...
Let's not over exagerate the risk here. There is exactly a 0% chance of catching West Nile Virus from an infected bird's feathers. The only way to contract West Nile Virus is to be bitten by a...
