The old Herter's fishing and guiding books were a hoot. Lots of interesting opinions on all things fishing and some things not fishing. I wish I had kept my old Herter's catalogs.

Thanks. I ordered a box from Blue Ribbon Flies. BRF is one of my favorite fly shops BTW.
Can you tell us the make of the small dubbing box used for making the Gray Reefer Midge collar?
Salmo metallica?
The trout will never see that one coming, but where do you tie the tippet?
Or tied in a late night diner.
With the turkey fiber body, the peacock herl thorax and the wood duck fibers, I'm sure that fly is a great fish catcher. Still, it looks a little naked to me. I just want a little something up there...
I use the non-slip loop knot for streamers and saltwater flies. I use a clinch knot for trout flies other than streamers.
I believe he is posting again after a some medical issues.

Well done. That fly would make a great Christmas ornament.

A beautiful soft hackle. Maybe a good PMD emerger in a size 16/18?
Tim
Thanks. What kind of perch do you fish for and where on the CA coast? Just curious.

Nice, clean elk hair wings on those.
Did that squirrel make a mistaken visit to a bird feeder before becoming a streamer?
Thanks, I will give the 5 minute epoxy a try the next time.
Tim
Scott,
No doubt you will be the first inductee into the Muddler Hall of Fame. Well, maybe the second after Don Gapen.
Tim
Thanks for the suggestion. I will give that a try.
Getting ready for a trip to The Bahamas in early March. This is the business end of a fly I hope a few bonefish get to see.

Yes, I used Copic markers with the Copic Air Brushing System. The little cans of air, D60N, are hard to find and very expensive. The last ones I purchased were online from JoAnn stores. I don't...
