Subsurface is where the fish catch most of their food, I find sub surface more satisfying for catching, surface is fun but not as good as in the fishes pantry.
I also would not believe it but it appears that bass will bite all year round. Here in North Dallas a fishing friend has proved that fishing after sunset and before sunrise Blue Gill Crappie and lmb...
North Texas the water is cold but the Large Mouth Bass don't know it catching GB them on water pushing flys.
We'll used set up there.
They look like twins, just love catching them.
Those are Gills to die for, real nice specimens. Thanks for the green with envy pictures.
Shake ,feed, pull, false cast, whatever get sufficient line out and with your back to the wind you can get the wind to get the line out if it is sufficiently strong so a back cast wontt work.
Just shake out some line lift the rod and the wind will take your line out. No need to cast.
Very nice Pumpkin seed sunfish. Here in North Texas we have had a record 12 days of upper 80's. Trees and grass starting to green, early spring?
Don't you like Tilapia? Here in North Texas we have hardly had a winter. Today high eighties.
Not your typical fly fishing outfit for carp on the fly, more like fishing for carp with a fly rod.
You're right it started out as a one feather fly with the hackles behind the beadchain. Has been my go to fly for many years. Caught big bass and a stack of "brim".
Bought a 2 weight 10 years ago it is my go to rod and have caught 3lb plus bass and just love the rod for blue gills..
Those are real nice, thanks for posting.
I would concur with the above comments, I would say that the AFTMA ratings were to give you the weight line for a basic fly line that that rod is rated for, having said that, I have experimented...
Nice Blue Gills, my favorite fish on a 2 weight .
Just love big Blue Gill , that is a very nice fish.
I lived in Africa most of my life, wild Tilapia have a distinctive taste and are a wonderfull eating fish. The resturant variety do not have the taste. I used to order them in resturants but no...
Too early, the colors arn't right;)
Nice drawing though.
Why four months to "legally" catch a common warmwater species?
Where is St Johns?
Nice sized fish you have there nice bend in the rod too. Those shad look like good fighters.
Do you fish the booby on the top? The fly hanging down in the water with short twitches should get a fishes attention!!!
You are extremely blessed to have all those wonderful spots to fish and what looks like an abundance to catch.
Hope you sold them and recovered your money!!!
