I have never used a tip ring and have fished furled leaders for four years, but am very excited to put some on my leaders. My friends have actually asked me about them, and requested them...

I like the idea of just tying a cinch knot rather than doing the loop knot then conecting.

I have found some oval shaped tip rings. Other than the obvious of the shape is there any difference between the two?
