Everyone's got an opinion, and I figure mine is worth as much as anyone's, so... I will keep fishing the way I have for 36 years and counting, catching fish as I go.
Sneezing from here.
Between oil change / tire rotation and balancing and the months-early monsoonal thunderstorm of the day, I broke down and took the fly rod to the gravel pit lake down in the valley, chasing a carp. ...
Since (in my opinion) a great deal of fish catching involves having a fly in the water (as opposed to in the air, in the box, in the trees, hooked to the rod while one pontificates on shore...),...
I recommend going 40 miles downstream and watching all those wet coeds in the rafts. Maybe provide a shuttle service.
Those do not meet my definition of 'huge', sorry. Nice fish, but those live in a lot of rivers.
Never managed to get there in the 4 years I lived around Bozeman, but I fished it once on the way through ten years or so back. Wasn't impressed, never returned.

I was on the other side of the river when that spike hit today. Think they opened up the dam. Was a...
Welcome back. We missed you as well. And your pink toenails!
Happiness is a good enough hatch the fish are rising, but no so good that the river is a zoo.

If it takes a geneticist to tell the difference, there might as well not be a difference. Same with the cutthroats in the cricks around here. They keep changing species, but the always look the...
"Forecasted unregulated inflow to Blue Mesa Reservoir is 340,000 af between April and July. This is 50% of the 30 year average." So the tailwater is very low, and will likely stay that way for a...
I have one of those and they do work fine. I use them for my kevlar thread and glo bug trimming.
I like the Bass Pro Hobbs Creek reels. Cast aluminum, disc drag. Just redneck enough to make people turn up their noses and scoff at them. On the other hand, I own several, none of which have EVER...
A tossup between a TMC 100BL and a 900BL. I would lean towards the 900, since most of my dries are small.
Alan, I get mine at Madison River Fishing Company in Ennis, MT. No sales tax, 100-packs....
I forgot to take pictures yesterday morning, when it snowed 3" overnight and I froze my @ off counting three whole birds on a lek. Until the coyote ran through and they left. One more count this...
Same here, but it is working now, so... Ron does a heck of a job keeping this site up and running, so I am not going to worry about a couple hours of not being able to log in.
My father had a ball of it in his tying kit for many years. Mostly for silk floss, I recall. If you can market it, thought, 25# might be your retirement!
The idea has been around since at least 2005, with some publicity in '06.
I have lost a net or two, and found a net or two. Quit using them many years ago, but the one I still own has my name on it. Most FF types being honest folks, I figure the odds are good that if I...
Maybe you should ask Santa for a woodburning kit next Christmas, and put your name and address on the next net.
I knew of a northern goshawk and a northern spotted owl nesting in the same tree in California several years ago. It happens. They work different shifts, and are fairly evenly matched. Possibly they...
Hooks that have too soft of steel, and straighten out during use, including in the vise or on a fish (and someone once told me that was impossible here, even though it has happened to me many many...
I always kind of figured we all could use that sort of help.
