Re: New technique for carp, trout and catfish

Try dipping either white or yellow pom poms (glo bugs) in the juice from sweetcorn. Use the corn to chum (more people cringing) the area. Dynamite for carp!

Has anyone ever experimented with this synthetic human hair to tie saltwater flies, or any flies for that matter? Was wondering about texture and breatheability. Any help would be greatly...

    Re: Catfish, on a flyrod?

I too concur with this. Sometimes the catfish bite is better than the smallmouth bite on this area of the Susquehanna.

This certainly hasn't been my experience. I think carp take the fly extremely well. If I can get the fly to them without tipping them off that something is amiss, they take. Not all...

Glo bugs tied in white to represent bread or glo bugs tied in yellow to represent corn. Sight fishing is the key with carp. Put it in front of their nose watch the take and don't set the hook too...

    Re: Harder or easier?

My school of thought is that I tend to tie simple flies because I will fish tighter locations with a fly that only took 5 minutes or less to tie as I don't mind losing those as much. This in my...

    Re: Carp on a fly

Wolly worms, wolly buggers, clouser swimming nymphs, damsel fly nymphs, puke fly, and muncher nymph have all worked for me. And let us not forget crayfish patterns. Hope this helps.

A koi of that size would easily bring a $100 price tag with it. In my opinion it is worth far more as a target species to catch. If you think they are tough to catch the first time, try to...

    Bill,
I have been fortunate enough to have caught 2 koi on the fly. They are a real spooky fish. For this reason I enlisted the help of a friend who bait fishes for them quite often. (He has a...

As John said they are grassers and very nice ones too. They are usually stocked to keep the vegitation down in a waterway. Congratulations on your capture(s).
