In Ernest Hemingway's famous story "Big-Two Hearted River," which basically is just a story about a guy camping and fishing on a river in northern Michigan, the main character wakes up early so that...

That's just the situation where I caught one, too--at the bottom of the "waterfall" created by the outlet of the Lake Conway dam. They must like sitting in there waiting for food to be...
I'd like to join, too. I'll tie a foam and feather ant.
Mike
I was out fishing for bluegill yesterday, and after doing pretty well with a nymphs and buggers, I thought I'd test out a dry fly, just to push summer a little closer (there were no rises, although...
I think I'll tie a deer hair crawdad. I noticed that parrotheadcbr is tying a crawdad, too, but there are a million different versions, so I'm hoping this is OK.
Mike
Hello!
I'd be interested in joining the swap, too. I'll think about what I want to tie, and get back to you soon--so I guess I'm a TBD too. Thanks for organizing,
Mike
Thanks, guys. That's just what I needed to know.

Hey folks:
Last time I went wade-fishing, the ice cold water surrounding my foot let me know that I had a hole in my boot. It's a pair of hip-boots, and the hole was created by a crack on the...
Yep, Gordon, that's Lake Conway. It seems like most of the guys out there fish it for crappie, with some bass anglers thrown in there. Apparently in the 1960s and 1970s, it was known as a...

I'm living just north of Little Rock, and have only caught the yellow bass on one lake: Lake Conway, which is a large but shallow dammed fishing lake. Your friend's experience fits with...
I've found a couple places here in Central Arkansas where I consistently catch Yellow Bass, and I was just wondering how many of you all fish for them. I hear very little about them, and one of the...
Moving up is fine with me, too--the tying for my contribution is relatively easy as well. In fact it is embarassingly easy--so I'll go ahead and send a couple to everybody. I made some test runs...
Oh, by the way, I'd love to try out some of the spinner flies that folks were talking about, so I'd be all for opening the swap up to spinners. Such great ideas out there!
Mike
I'd like to take part, too. I haven't done much with plastics, but I've experimented with other heretical flies, so it'll be fun to see what works. I'll make some kind of grub fly--bluegill-sized...
I usually use size 12 or 14, and it works more consistently for me than any other fly (I'll have to try out using a scud, too). I did, however, tie up a couple on size 8 hooks about a month ago. ...
