Thanks for the help everyone. I'll give that a shot, and let you know how it goes.
Well, it finally happened. I have a small hole somewhere in the stockingfoot of my waders. It got a little wet yesterday, and really cold! I couldn't feel my left foot, but the right one was toasty!!...
They are now in the mail. I sent them yesterday, and they said it'll take about a week.
You mean our flies are supposed to have hooks on them? If I had only known that!
Call me dumb, or maybe just real slow, but does anyone have any tips for these "toe tags"? Do I just write on a small piece of paper and wire it to the fly? My brain is on the slow side (float tubing...
You Know, I gotta say that when I first got into tying, I purchased one of those kits. I paid about $50 for mine. I still use the vise to this day (although I'm waiting for my new rotary to come in)...
Hey guys (and gals),
I would love to be in this swap. I've taught myself to tie over the past year, and haven't shown anyone my flies, so here goes.
My biggest fish (4.5lbs) came on a my...
I bought a Hare's mask off of ebay a couple of years ago. It came out to under $10 with the shipping. Suffice it to say, I haven't used a hyde, nor hare of the thing! lol, that was funny, no?
Which way are you heading as a fly tier? I'm not sure. Only 3 years in, but enjoy every monute I can get.
Do you want to learn to tie more elaborate patterns, get better at 'harder' ties? Yes I...

Just before X-Mas, I was looking to tie some neat looking "flys" to give as gifts. I really had no idea where to get started, so I searched here and found a neat Snow man fly....
Apparently it is a crime ring that invloves people from the USA, and Alberta. The news stated that these people are paying natives to kill more than 500 eagles each year in our province, BC. I am so...
What do you guys mean by, folding the hackle?
I cover all of my chironomids in epoxy. You want the look of the trapped gasses, and I find that not only does the epoxy help acheive this, it does help it sink faster, which is where you want them...
Yeah, I use a 20lb thrust motor for my 12' alum. boat, and it works pretty well. But when the wind comes up! Well, that's another story. I wasn't sure if I should get the Marine battery, but it...
Thanx Bob. If someone would have told me that a long time ago, it would have saved me a lot of money and grief. Alas, it was one of those things that I learned on my own. I love the fact that...
Those are some of the most realistic flies I have seen! Exceptional! I would really like to see one or more on the FOTW! I'm dying to know how you tied them!
