For streamers I prefer a straight FC furled leader at 42", this gives better sink profile and power. You can also fish nymphs on this, but I prefer a thread FC combination where the FC is a core...

Unlike many other furlers, I've never seen Kathy's DVD. I know it's good based on conversations I've had with others who have it. I did however start learning from this book. In my opinion I would...
I'll be in Lewiston for the fly expo next weekend, if you're around come stop by and say hello! Would like be to meet any of you.

The new Dragontail HELLbender fits this mold perfectly and less than the Amago
Brad I do it because the manufacture doesn't have these colors in the specific thread I prefer to use. It has been the best thread I've used to fuel with, so wanted to get dye for it. I prefer...
I go up to 20', but that's a Super long set up. I do prefer bright colors and had some thread specially dyed for them.

For fishing nymphs, streamers, and wets I prefer the Oudachi line. I designed this line for this exact purpose. Taper is designed to aid in loading the line, along with getting fly down faster.

Jack in my opinion yes it's worth the extra time. Why the fc tip because it gives the leader a stiff heavy tip but the body of thread over core of fc addes a combination of both materials...
Remove it Brad that is fine, just really liked it. It's not something I'm selling anyways. The third leg gives you better turnover, energy transfer, and presentation. We are also able to use...
I've been trying to figure out how to make my nymph leader in my platinum series leaders. After a few different tries I believe I found it. I absolutely love the third leg leaders performance.

Although I wouldn't recommend starting with making three leg leaders they perform flawlessly, and are my preferred leaders. Best to start with the basics, and Kathy dvd would give you that.

Thanks Dennis! One is 6ft as he requested but I threw in an 8fy one as well thinking he will need it a little longer. It runs in four sections first olive or tan, orange, chartreuse, and pure fc...
Had a custom order for Czech nymphing. Pretty happy with how they turned out.

I agree put on a swivel. I however would also look at taper and material. Tapers change based on type of flies and technique. Also for heavier and more wind resistant flies I prefer a stiffer leader,...
Just add an extra peg in the section you want so it's directly across and make the indicator. It works great.
He always takes great care of me as well.

New streamer leader I'm working on. Made with the 3 legs. Pretty slick.

Dragontailtenkara.com has 2mm rings.
Local fly fishing club contacted us about helping one of the club members. He had a severe stroke and lost use of one of his arms. With a Tenkara rod he's still able to fly fish, which was something...
Thank you guys I appreciate the support. I really love tying, and wish I had more time to play.

Boy I truly appologize for my blatant mistake on the PTN. From everything I had seen that was how you tied the PTN. However I didn't use any pheasant tail in my pattern, but rather two different...
Allen you're 100% correct. My reasoning for the post was to see what other people may be using instead of traditional material to tie some of the great patterns. I like to learn of different...
Scott that's true that it's technically no longer a Pheasant Tail, but it's still tief to imitate the same. In the picture above I've used a different type of thread. This picture is of a Copper...
