St Croix is now selling their Imperial series blanks (SCIV/SC2). They have a VERY nice 3wt in an 8'6" 4-piece for a great price. I can promise you that the blank rivals those at more than double...
I believe what you are looking for is called a "Crafty's Cutter" ... use Google and you should easily find it.

There IS a "wrong way", a "right way" AND a "it doesn't matter way" as to wrapping ferrules. Here's why ...
1) Wrong way = some manufacturers DO require the wrapping of ferrule joints. Failure...
IF you use NYLON thread, not NCP ... AND you use CP ... AND you don't attempt to put a light color on that dark blank ... you WILL attain your goal.
I will make the suggestion that you do a test...
Gudebrod CP formula was dramatically changed a few years back ... it isn't the same stuff it used to be.
I use U40 Color Lock and it IS milky white. It shouldn't be strained or diluted. The...
I suggest the use of polyurethane or graphite foam arbors. Glass tape is good - but solid arbors are stronger AND lighter.
For a truly different experience, use ceramic fly guides. I use them exclusively on my personal builds.
Yep, right in Wisconsin.
FYI, the TFO blanks have the company graphics all over them.
Lakes for largemouth bass and rivers for smallmouth are two different rods. I recommend that you split the difference and go with something in the middle. Probably a 6'6", 6-12#, Fast Action.

IMO, the very best pull loops in the industry are made by Backlash Tools (use Google to locate). Although it isn't necessary to have store bought - they work VERY well and hold up for a long time. ...
It is VERY difficult to get dye to take on cork. Just soaking it won't work. The closest you will get to a good penetration is with vacuum pressure.
Batson is both Forecast and Rainshadow. The blanks are imported with the exception of RX7+ and RX8+ (look for the plus sign) which are built by a large US manufacturer as an OEM product.
I wrap professionally and have for over 20 years. Although I do own a power wrapper, it gathers dust ... I still wrap 99% of my rods by hand. Wrapping by hand allow better control and finer work,...
I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Ralph O'Quinn (the developer/owner of Trondak/U40 products - LS Supreme, Rod Bond, Ferrule Lube, etc.) for quite some time. His background is simple ......
At one point, the world was deemed to be flat. Anyone thinking otherwise, was considered a heretic of the church and subject to the most extreme punishments - including death.
This is the case...
Yep ... U40 Rod Bond, the regular kind not the quick set. Best stuff since sliced bread. I can't express just how tough the stuff is AND it is removable, if needed.
Winding checks are also VERY handy for keeping epoxy from seeping/creeping onto the cork grip.
Since it is almost Christmas time, I will start doing my good deeds ... I really want Santa to stop...
Cabela's has their five-piece "Stowaway" blanks on sale for $19.88 ... they meet your requirements.
What length(s) and weight(s) would you consider?
I could use the Lefty DVD for students. What would the shipping be to 33563? Thanks!
