Look for a feather duster and you will have very fine herl, much finer than you can get peacock. I think that it could be beautiful and a great substitute.
I will send you plenty to tie up whatever you want. I live in the heart of wood duck country and will send some next week when I mail out the ones I owe to Caddis.
No need to buy wood duck when...
My answer would be Marvin Nolte as he has definitely reached the expert level required and his Grainger collection along with his other works would make him my choice.
My three year old daughter loves being around when I tie flies but hasn't yet wanted to try on her own. She likes the colors and the "pretty" Atlantic Salmon flies that I tie and that is probably...
Thanks for the tip Ron.
Siskiyou Aviary has them. They are very beautiful feathers as I found out when someone sent them to me.

They don't fit into the "normal"...
I think I have a deal with Caddis for some but I could use more if anyone else out there has any they would be willing to part with.
PM sent your way.
For any of the duck hunters out there I have a request. The barred feather is the flank feather at the bottom of the foot on the male that has the black and white bands. I have collected the flank...
Denny is a class act and one hell of a guy to boot. If I could just talk him into growing some more exotic birds I would buy some more amgolds off of him. Kudos to you Denny.
Go to www.flytingforum.com and search in the "Classic and Artistic Salmon Fly Tying" forum. If you can't find the answer post a question and you will certainly have your answer. Last week there was...
I really like the looks of the Kate, Black Doctor, Torrish, Bulldog, Gordon and all of the old Salmon flies. I have recently taken up these intimidating flies and found that they really aren't that...
You are walking down a slippery slope. You cannot be a casual Salmon Fly Dresser. It will consume your thoughts, time, wallet and soul much more than any other type of fly tying that I know. ...
You will find that using at least a 1/0 or 2/0 hook makes everything much easier than working with the smaller hooks. Go look around Ronn's website and look at the hook profiles and find out which...
I am tying traditional Salmon flies so the Mallard flank feathers and the teal flank would be great. Please let me know how I can help cover the shipping or what I can do to help to cover the costs....
You will not go wrong with the Danvise. I have used one for about 5 years now and I love it. I recently purchase a Dyna-King to tie the 3/0 to 4/0 hooks that I tie the Atlantic Salmon flies and...
His website for the new venture is ronnlucassr.com Everything looks like it is going well and hopefully he will have great success with his venture. Way to go Ronn.
Diane,
For the price listed on the Ebay auction your friend could buy the no name vise from Hook and Hackle. I have heard it reviewed favorably on this and other boards and also you have Hookhack...
Bump to top. I think that he posted it in the main section and I don't know if he plans on doing a full FOTW but that is one cool pattern.
Tie something that does not involve Jungle Cock. That is the only suggestion I can come up with that would lessen the cost. They are not cheap and their is not a good subsitute if you need a lot of...
Count me in. Pattern TBD.
When I called and asked the girl when I might expect a call back I was told that Ron had locked himself in the warehouse. He said that the move had put him so far behind on shipping that he had to...
I am in with a nymph. I'll have to e-mail with you to make sure that I am meeting the rules as to what is ok as for the pattern.
What do you mean by "and you will be famous!" Terry is already famous (or infamous) to everyone who frequents the "for sale" board. He sells more gear that I want than anyone else in the history of...
