Thanks all - much appreciated.
It was the clamp/pedestal light suggestions I was looking for - the Ottlite looks great, but at 4.5lbs is way heavier than wanted - and main use is when tying on a...
Hi all - looking for recommendations for a cheap LED light for my portable tying kit. I have a couple of the daylight lamps but lugging those around is too much. I've seen the Peak light, but at $140...
Ray - this I needed to hear! Just been through a weekend of steelhead tube tying, and the fingers do get pretty coloured. I'll try the method you mention - when you say "heavily salted" what rough...
Alan - what is it about the J Vise that makes it that desirable? I'd not heard of it before - and in checking the website, see that he's also got a hand clamp version.
The website says the...
Jim - that's great - very much appreciated.
Hi Jim - i have a bunch of the closed cell foam already - but will take yarn and a bit of whatever other excess you have off your hands.
Cheers - can PM you?
Looks great - how would you compare this to the stimulator? Sits lower and as you say more float challenged because of the clipped hackle? Looks a bit more impressionistic than the stim.
planettrout - that stuff looks hot! Will buy some and try out.
I'm pretty sure those aren't Daiichi 1273 hooks you have there - which model are they?
In that case, sorry, no.
plannettrout - those look excellent - can I ask what the dubbing is behind the bead, is that some kind of sparkle chenille wound round the hook? And I assume the body is flash or ribbon with wire...
Hans - not sure, am struggling to remember any VFS in my history, which probably means a no! But am a great fan of your videos in any case.
VFS is what exactly (in case my memory is dreadful)
Was in CO this week just past and picked up some Daiichi 1273 red hooks from a shop - was wondering what people thought of them here on FAOL. I saw another post here on a San Juan site - but...

OK guys - all flies in the mail!!
When I went through everything last night we were a little short on some of the sets - so I have spread the extras people kindly provided around to make up.

Guys - here is a suggestion: we're at nine people now and I think unlikely to get more people very quickly even though it's on FTF too.
One of the swappers has suggested we each tie 2 patterns i.e....
OK - seems as if we have a full house - have heard from scubatim and I expect the last flies to arrive by end of this week - if that is the case, I will ship all boxes on Saturday.
Great news Feenom - many thanks - JW
OK Guys - still a little short on people for this one, so going to do a cross posting on flytyingforum.org - will then arrange it all through email to make it easy. Will extend sign-up deadline to...
