So easy. Does not kink your leader. Floats like a cork. I bought 500 rubber bands at the dollar store that work just fine.
Learn to nymph with and with out an indicator.

I am one of the few that does not have issues with the 200R, except that it is sold in packages of 25 hooks for the same price as other brands sell them in packages of 50. I usually by the Umpqua U...

He uses the "drop shot" method of nymphing. He has a video on YouTube demonstrating it. I use that method along with a couple other split shot methods to nymph with. I rarely use an indicator...
Size 18 in Olive produced the best for me. I used the split thread technique of dubbing rather than a loop on my patterns, as size 16 was as big as I tied.
I stumbled upon this pattern when I...
I fish it at any depth of the water column. From bottom to just under the surface. I usually fish the emerger with a Soft Hackle or Two. Scott has the pattern dialed in perfectly for how it should be...
I did well with his Hares Ear and Baetis Nynph this past year. Your take on Galloups pattern looks great!
One on my favorite patterns here in Colorado. Especially in the Roaring Fork Valley. I tie it in Gray or Black, mostly on the Mustad 3906 hook in size 18-20, or for a longer version, the Mustad 9671...
Dubbed thread (Noodle) and split thread techniques mostly. I rarely use a dubbing loop. Split thread is the easiest (for me) way to get a soft hackle type collar using fur or guard hairs on smaller...
That was a good listen. I especially liked Charlies take on the Barr Emerger and his explanation on the BWO and PMD versions.
Do not leave them in a hot vehicle. The material will degrade.
Buoyancy of the trailing fly, length of tippet between dropper and anchor, current speed, and conflicting currents all have an impact on where the dropper will ride in the water column. Generally it...
If you want both or all (Colorado allows 3 flies) patterns to be at the same depth (moving water), make the anchor fly the closet to your leader. If you want one or more flies to ride higher in the...
Fun river no matter when you fish it. Can't say a guide is really needed if the angler has an elementary comprehension of fly fishing. Super easy trout to hook, and very fun. Shooting fish in a...
The Biot emerger has been a killer pattern for me this Spring. I hope your Pheasant Fiber variant works as well. I bet it will.
I have been using Super Glue on the biot patterns for a few years...
Joe, I colored a few pheasant fibers with a Black Sharpie. Made my little size 20 SH Emergers look pretty good.
Worked pretty good Joe. Thanks for the tip.
Liljoe, I did not want to hijack your "Crystal Caddis" thread. I have been using a similar technique as you demonstrated, for a couple years now. Sizes 16 to 10. I have had very good results with...
If you are fishing tailwaters, a smaller pattern may be what you want. For freestones, I prefer to go a few sizes up. Especially on rising, murky water. Great technique sir.
With the warm Winter we have had, the entire Roaring Fork and Colorado will fish well for you. Both as well as the Frying Pan are fishing great now. Pick your poison. I will leave you to the people...
Ditto what Charlaine said.
I got the Christmas boxes as well. Good synthetic dubbing.
I like your style Scott.
