Excellent review, Chris!
I had a chance to try one out on a river with some mild rapids and it did much better than I would have thought. Good boat and that seat is to die for!
Congrats on the new boats guys!
I look back on over 35 years of fishing and kick myself for only discovering the joy fishing out of solo boats about 4 years ago. I spent years wading smallmouth...
I fly fish exclusively and 99% of my trips are targeting LM bass, SM bass, and some stripers. Most of my fishing buds either do both or are strictly spin/bait casters. To be honest, on most trips...
UJ, for that float it will take 2 more state line crossings. However, we do have some smallies in SC. BTW, you got some in GA too. I'll send ya a PM where.
BTW, you are lucky to have them shoal...
Did a new float a couple of states away on some water I have been eyeing for over 20 years. The area had just went thru 3 nights of very low temps and the fish responded predictably by coming down...
I target smallies, LM, and stripers 99% of the time and have found that smallmouth have an incredible range of water temp tolerance. I catch them in water that has trout and I catch them in water...
I do lots of 5 to 7 mile river floats in my canoe and when a storm comes up there is usually no safe place to be found. Several times I have seen trees and limbs fall from the high winds one of which...
iaFlyFisher, I have several friends who fish out of those things and by all acounts are one of the better fishing "kayaks" out there.
You will not be disapointed. Good call!
I've got friends who use jon boats, toons, canoes, yaks, and even one home made wooden canoe. We argue all the time about the different advantages and disadvantages of each. We fish 300 acre or less...
Hey ThreeDayWeekend, looks like we are neighbors. I live in the Powdersville area.
If the fish are going to be shallow, I really like Lefty's Decievers in the same colors mentioned above but also tie some darker colors like all black, black/gray, etc. just in case.
Good luck!
Thanks for the compliments. It was one of those rare days I gave the spin/baitcasters a run for thier money. I was the only one doing fly only and used only one rod. The guys I fish with usually have...
That holds an anchor made of a long piece of heavy chain. This way, the chain is not hanging down in the water when having to paddle a long distance and creating too much drag.
Thanks for the compliment. That float was proof that even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then!
What do I do when not fishing?
Sleep
Work
Household chores
Church on Sundays
And...spend time with my wonderful 13 yr old daughter who drags me to kiddie/teen movies, talks my ear off,...
Here in SC it is hot but not quite that hot. Our problem has been muddy water most weekends from rain. I will never understand how our parents and grandparents survived without AC.
I still fish...
Three good buddies and I hit a large river (somewhere in the South East) with visions of smallies dancing in our heads.
We fished Friday and Saturday and it was good. It was mid 90s in the shade...
steveks, good job! The anchor line is dead center with the keel line.
Uncle Jesse, love your idea of the film cutter! Never thought of that. I use scissors that have plastic covering the tips...
The past 3 or 4 years I have used a cam cleat with a dog leash for the anchor line. It has worked out great and I haven't had to replace the cleat yet.
I have anchors coming out both front and...
That is not a love story...that perverted boomerang is STALKING you!!!!
Congrats on your new mobility. For warm water fly fishing you just got to get away from the bank!
Here in SC we had a diver the other year lost an arm to a gator. Witnesses said he was trying to get real close to it and touch it. I guess he got to touch it all right.
Hunting grizzlies with a switch!
That had ta been a hoot.
I'd be inclined to heed Darrin's advise. I have fished with the man and he knows pontoons like few others.
Darrin! Maybe the FB will get right in a week or 2. We got to go! Looking forward to it....
I'm didn't know that carp were such swingers!
Makes a Roman orgy look sort of tame and boring.
Great post!
