I would add size 10 to that list.
My favorite Crappie fly is the 'Reaper Damsel Nymph' size 10 in Black. (But I also like Olive or Rust/Brown)
It's a little bit like a Clouser.
It's a killer...
Those little kits that come with a vise & tools contained in a wooden 'chess set' style box (no materials), are perfect for beginners. No, they aren't top-of-the-line, but that's the point. ...
Not much meat on them though. Can't even make broth.
:-p
Lots of stuff on eBay:
Thread, Flashabou, Mylar Motion (like Flashabou), Uni GloYarn, EP Fiber, etc.
This Link will get you to the Fly Fishing Category:...
Thanks Guys
I really appreciate all your help.
You're a great bunch, as always
Bill
Thanks 'Cold',
I've just about memorized the new signature numbering system. I look forward to more hooks being updated to the signature line.
But the local guys usually buy the dry fly hooks...
Hello Everyone,
I'm thinking of carrying saltwater hooks in my online stores.
Any suggestions. I'm in Lincoln Nebraska about 1500 miles from either the Atlantic or Pacific & 1000 miles form the...
Yeah I'd hate to see FAOL overrun by ads too. That's why it would be nice if they were limited to one area only. And members could choose to go there to see it, rather than have ads shoved at them...
I wish I could take credit for the idea but it was mentioned to me as a possibility by one of the administrators of this site.

To Marco:
If you think 'discount' and 'payment' are the same thing, I have a proposition for you: Come and work at my fly shop, and instead of the paycheck my other employees get, I'll give you...
I think sponsors should be allowed to have their link in their signature along with an icon or foot note that shows they are legit. And non-sponsors should not be allowed to do it.
I want to become...
OK Will do.
Some day I hope to carry many of the models you mentioned.
My online business is growing quickly so it may not be too long.
I like the way you think. You have stated exactly what I had in mind before I posted this thread!
I was already leaning toward the S82 for the reasons you gave, but I thought I'd ask to see if...
The new hooks (s80 and s82 are identical in every way except length, and the problems with inconsistencies among smaller sizes in the classic 3906/3906B's have been eliminated)
My question is...
Hello everyone.
I have a question:
Now that Mustad has discontinued the classic 3906B, which new signature hook to you prefer?
The S80-3906, which is a LITTLE SHORTER than the old 3906B, or...
I'll have to get some of that. I have the uni glo-yarn and glowing flashabou and can't wait to try them. I'll bet the crappies would like them. Maybe Walleyes or even Catfish.
I honestly mean no disrespect...
But I've been a 'Knot-Head' for many years now. I have a library of knot tying books including the 'Sacred Tome' known as Clifford Ashley's Book of Knots. (Almost...
At Dollar General they sell super glue in little dropper bottles 2 for a dollar I believe. They have 50% more glue in them than the standard tubes (3 grams vs. 2 grams)
I tie flies a lot, and...
You're quite welcome. My pleasure. I love helping other fly fishermen. Especially the ones who haven't even discovered fly fishing yet.
Bill
I like to do the same thing. I love to look at a fly/crayfish whatever, and then go through my materials and tie what I want to imitate. I like to see if I can do it with as few materials as...
I've tried several types of thread: Uni, GSP, Kevlar, and several Danville's
The Uni threads I've tried have no stretch, so they break without warning when you reach their maximum weight rating....
Mustad signature hooks are the Best for the money, easily. Mustad's been around since the 1870's for good reason.
I will soon start carrying them in my fledgling store (online & ebay). I hope to...
He sounds more laid back and realistic about it than argumentative. A wider margin of tolerance.
You sound like a perfectionist (not that there's anything wrong with that, just a narrower margin...
Get this book: 'Production Fly Tying' by A.K. Best
Very enlightening. He put his kids through college tying flies.
I read it and can tie much faster now. Which means you can charge less and...
