+1 with the loctite brushable glue. I gave up on zap-a-gap as it was frequently drying up.
I have caught numerous large browns and rainbows off black and orange lures. Killer combo.

here is how i tie mine, fished deep they do very well.
I use UV nail gel, very cheap and doesn't dry sticky. Doesn't yellow or crack either, women have been using this for a while.
i dont think the trout will decide to take a fly based on how long the tails are, the point of the tail length is to make the fly sit properly on the water.
nice flies! i have never tried sparkle duns. will have to tie a few up to try on Australian Waters!
100s packs are great, saddle feathers in general are great. can get quite a few flies from one feather :)
Thanks everybody for their time

I would rather figure 500 ways how to not trick that to resort to night fishing, i like fly fishing as a challenge and would rather watch the fish take the fly, to me that is the most rewarding part....
The purpose of tying for me is to be able to customize the flies to the way i like them. I do buy a lot of flies that i don't want to change like i usually buy my royal wulffs, simulators, and...
Sometime when i seem to have no luck pulling difficult fish I try to invoke a reaction with scud patterns,bhead, size 16, olive with flashback shell covered with epoxy. Strip really fast in front of...
it is easy to tell when they are bigger when they are small just got to look harder. the male trout will grow a bit longer mouth and a hooked bottom jaw.
I will use some googled examples;

i caught a brownie early in the year with a miniature bottom jaw which kinked out to the side, looking from upside down you can see straight to his top jaw teeth exposed. despite the deformity he was...
