7star,
The Orvis Superfine Wonderline's are designed to go with the rods. I got one with my Trout Bum. The rod casts and fishes very well with it, although I think it is considered a WF line....
brhokla,
Go to the Libby Shoal area. I caught my biggest brown there....a nice 22 incher on an olive sowbug. He should still be there. Say hi to him for me if you happen to see him. Everyone...
7star,
I have recently discovered the often overlooked series of Superfine rods from Orvis and I love them. I bought a Trout Bum (7', 4 piece, 4 wt.) and I don't know what I ever did without it. ...
I guess I'm in between then. I can make really good casts, with distance, with the softer rods. But I have no delicacy whatsoever with a faster rod. Thanks! And if anyone has anything else to...
Casting and fishing a slower action rod or a faster action rod?
I ask because in my brief fly fishing career of 4 years I have made the full circle starting with the gotta have it now, cast a mile...
Thanks BH. I was beginning to think I was alone with my thoughts on Superfines. I'll have to try the Tippet out sometime.

You all have mentioned fine rods, but don't forget about the Orvis Superfine series. I just bought a Trout Bum myself. It's not Orvis' best selling Superfine for nothing. Loads very easily, is...
I don't know for sure or not. My guess would be that if there is any truth to that it is that the same company in Korea makes both. After purchasing a TFO I wish I had purchased an Orvis instead. ...
Is there an ideal ratio of reel weight:rod weight that is to be attained? It seems like most reels weigh 1.5 to 2 times what a rod weighs, thereby rendering the question moot and thus why even...
Who told you there were fish in Montana? Sorry to break it to you, but there aren't any anywhere in Montana. Don't waste your time. It's no good.
Alright you can go as long as you keep it a...
On another board the question of light line, delicate rods came up. I saw many mentions of T & T, Winston, and Sage. But I did not see any mention of the Orvis Superfines. They have peaked my...
I've got an opportunity to be transferred to Calgary. Not that I would base my decision on this alone....no...nah...not me, but I've heard good things of the Bow river that runs thru downtown, but...
You're right Mantis, not much on the tapers, but I guess what I drew from it was that there as many different tapers as there are people that build rods. I especially found interesting the way in...
Go to [url=http://www.troutrods.com:cf9c5]www.troutrods.com[/url:cf9c5] (Tom Morgan's site). You may not agree with all he has to say(especially the prices of his rods), but it is some good...
FYI....It's here and the new pics are on their website. It looks pretty cool to me. I'm not too sure about the non-cork drag system (seems like a contradiction of philosophies). It also looks very...
I see no problem with having a 5 and 6 weight both. I recently traded in my 4 and 6 weights for a 5 weight Sage SLT to do it all. If I did a lot of drift boat fishing I might want to get a 6 wt XP...
I have cast TFO's and I find them a bit fast, especially for newbies. Don't forget about the bigger companies, i.e. Sage & Orvis. They make some less expensive rods in the price range of TFO's with...
It cracks me up when I hear someone has traded in their old car, that is probably paid for or close to it, to buy a new one because it gets better gas mileage. So, instead of paying a little more...
I've fished that area before and I can attest that it can be difficult. On the packsaddle I finally got smome small whitefish and a brownie to bite on a VERY small mosquitoe dry. I emphasize the...
As sargeant Hulka put it, "Lighten up, Francis".
Thanks to this thread I happened upon JC's double haul teachings. I only thought I was doing it correctly until I studied that article. Well what do you know, I went home last night and practiced...
Go with wooly buggers in all different colors then. Olive and black seem to work the best, but I've also tied my own chartruese and I hear purple works good also. They should have some flash on...
Why does ***** creek get censored?
How about red ***?
What if I hyphenate it?
*****-creek
red-***
Jared,
Streamers, especially wooly buggers, are a good place to start. I've had bass in my pond just annihilate dry flies also. If you're fishing on a lake, usually the key is getting the fly to...
