So, this doesn't mean I'm dumber than a fish afterall? :p;)
About an hour away, they just opened Cabela's about 6 months ago and Bass Pro Shops, about 15 minutes away from the Cabela's, has been open about 7 years. The BPS store is far bigger and while I'd...
Bass Pro has had their White River line for over 10 years, now. I don't know when the "Classic" line came out, but Bass Pro has had their own brand of fly rod for some time. I don't own one and...
Along similar lines, I needed to replace my dedicated mp3 player. A certain electronics store had a great deal on a pre-paid phone for Black Friday, similar price to what I paid for my previous mp3...
I bank fish, I don't wade, and even bank fishing is not "plunge-free". :D Of course, I fully admit to being clumsy. Still better to get wet fishing than staying dry at home watching the tube.

I might have used this one before:
Memorable, not really "strange" and may not quite fit into the category "while you were fishing", more like "while you were camping" stories, but it does involve...
+1 This was my first thought as well. However, I also think the post above about the bug eyed koi may be correct as well. Seen from the back and in natural waters (i.e. not too clear, not like in a...
I will probably REALLY open up a can of worms, now, but: "Why protect any species at all?" And I am serious. People seem to think that the best and prettiest creatures exist today and we want to...
I have nothing to contribute, but I thought that fad went out with the '80's.
Ironically, my dad used to own property in Upstate NY and had a stream pass through the property that had a bit more water than that. He told me he started seeing fish swimming in the stream a few...
They could have picked a better name. Makes fishing sound dirty.
Thanks for sharing that, Neil. I still miss seeing new articles from JC. I can't believe it's been 4 years since he passed.
Nice share.
I don't want to sound like I am nit-picking, but I thought that this site has an article detaling similar knowledge. It may be under the FF101 group of articles Castwell wrote for...
Ron,
Sorry to hear that. I can't speak from experience, but I heard from some of my former coworkers years ago about their former coworker who nearly ripped a urinal off the wall passing a stone....
Makes perfect sense. Those fish that escaped warned the other fish about what was going on. Word got around and soon the fish stopped biting.
So bait fisherman do not deserve to catch wild trout, huh? And people wonder why fly fisher people are seen as snobs.
In VA, its always been catch and kill, you can be fined for releasing the fish. Athough MD is now offering a reward, the fish has not quite taken over the Potomac, yet.

Sorry, I have no recommendations, I'm just chiming in to say that I think this thread should be in the running for the most interesting title of the year. :)

When you start seeing fashion stuff at places like CVS, if the trend is not over, it is on its last legs.
You mean there was a bridge in the picture? ;)
HAH! I would not be surprised if she did that on purpose for just this purpose! :) ("Sir could you do me a favor and give this paper to that guy over there, here's $20.")
Good article. I am one of those who does not properly know how to prepare a fish, which is one reason why I practice catch and release, although even if I knew I would still catch and release most...
Joe,
Not sure I understand, is this something that happens to her "regularly"? The reason I ask is that since I was 16 I started having episodes of rapid heartbeat called heart palpitations. In...
My son goes there frequently due to doctor's appointments with specialists, although it is quite a hike for us (two hours one way). There is a nice size river that runs through or very near...
