Thanks Mark! Appreciate the response. I have fished in Hancock before. Mostly East of there in and around Roscoe. I am curious about State College PA. I read there are land locked Salmon nearby. Is...

Hi folks,
I recently bought a place in Pocono Lake, PA in Monroe county. Can you guys recommend rivers, streams or creeks to check out? The Susquehanna River is about an hour away. I have only...
Good video! Thanks!
I use Hungarian partridge for the soft hackle. Only problem is, the cape I have seems to be a little too big for the smaller flies. I usually trim it a bit after they are tied. I like the red...
I do very well on them here in the east. Sometimes I'll hang one off a big stonefly or wooly bugger. Also very effective. I like the pheasant tail or hare's ear in 14-18.
Thanks. Yep, these are my go-to flies in both northern and southern NY when there is no dry fly action.
I got a taker.
Hi folks,
I tied a few soft hackle bead headed pheasant tail nymphs. Does anyone want to try them out? PM me your address and I'll mail them to you. They are not professional grade but I use them...
I went with a Nautilus XM, gold anodized, I bought it from The Hungry Trout Fly Shop in Wilmington, NY. I go up there to fish every Memorial Day weekend. It's a great little shop outside of Lake...
Probably the best gear advice I've ever received. Thank you! I did pick up a nice reel for the #3 today. A Waterworks Lamson Guru II. Working with The Hungry Trout Fly Shop outside of Lake Placid NY...
Hi. I'm looking for reel recommendation on a couple of rods I picked up recently. I'm going to the fly fishing show tomorrow in Edison NJ. I recently picked up a Thomas & Thomas 3-piece Paradigm rod;...
This Is great! Thanks so much!

My fishing buddy will be in Telluride this weekend. He was going to fish the Frying Pan River but I-70 remains closed in both directions between Glenwood Springs and Gypsum due to a rockslide. Are...
I actually do have one of those maps. I fished right around mile marker 7. A colleague recommended I stay away from the toilet bowl if I really wanted to catch fish. I just didn't put in enough time...
I finally connected on the Frying Pan. Landed a 12" brown on a PMD spinner. Got away before I could get a picture. Dropped a couple of others.
I think I might try the Roaring Fork at Jaffe Park. I picked up a few assorted midges, RS2 emergers, stoneflys and I had a few mysis shrimp left over from last year. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll...
Thanks DUB! Like the guy at the Orvis shop here in New York City said, there is a secret to the spot (the Toilet Bowl), that you're not going to find online:)
Hi all. I'm revisiting this post because I'm heading back out to Aspen February 26 - March 3. Is the tailwaters of the Frying Pan still my best bet?
Thanks,
Jim
Thanks to everyone for the great advice! Although I wasn't able to connect, I saw a lot of fish. And a few big ones at that. Here's one that I watched come out of the Toilet Bowl (as I couldn't get a...
Thank you all for all the great advice! I'm booking my trip tomorrow for February 23rd - 26th. Probably only do one day of fishing but I'm looking forward to it!
Thanks again!
Jim
Does anyone have any recommendations on good public winter fly fishing spots near Aspen, CO? I have an opportunity to go for a few days (probably mid February) for only the cost of the plane ticket....
Caught over 20 brown trout Memorial Day weekend. A few nice ones around 14 inches. Caught my first fish on a self tied fly too!1049810497
troutlet.com does have it! All of these posts were very helpful. I may just go with poly pro yarn. Using it for Sulfur Dun Parachutes.
Is Hi Vis the same as antron? If not, does anyone know where I can get a price on Hi Vis? I'm going to a show this weekend and would like to compare prices.
Thanks!
Anyone take a few months off from tying and come back to an empty bottle of head cement? Apparently this stuff evaporates. What are the tricks to avoid this?
