I just put a small piece of tape on the back of the tag, trapping the point of the hook. My tags are fairly large, though.

Looky here. and scroll down.
Also works for serrated, but it can remove the serrations.
Kirk
really stick to your ribs.
I only paint the head on a fly if I am going to put eyes on it. Otherwise a 3 to 6 turn whip finish lasts as long as my knots hold up. I will use a drop of...
If I want to put lead on it, I cut a piece of .030 (for bigger hooks) the length of the straight part of the shank, and tie it on the bottom of the shank. That way the fly sinks horizontally,...
Kelkay,
Try this.
Plus you get a few tools for the junk drawer.;)

Same here. I couldn't even convince myself to pony up for a Traveller. I do like my Dan, tho.

Thanks, Normand. I've gotten on a streamer kick lately, and I like this. Clean, simple and elegant.

Looks a whole lot like a variation of a Briminator.
Usually tied with pheasant feathers. Fuzzy part from the base for the tail. Brown/tan mix for dubbing. Wire ribbing is acceptable. 1 1/2 to 2...
Now my wife is lookin at me funny and asking what's wrong. I'm sorry to hear about your buddy, but glad that y'all had so many years together.
There will be many Fish-ins, but not friends like...
Karli-Rae,
Tempura is the paint they used for all of the banners in high school. Water-based, not real durable, and the colors fade quickly.
The powder paint jeffro mentions requires heat to set,...
Here,
Do you want this D-rib? This is only the second time I've used it in 3 or so years. I had to dig it out of a "back-up" box.
PM me a snail mail addy, and I'll send it to you.
Kirk
I tried it with opal tinsel and olive D-rib. Looks pretty close. Maybe Gold tinsel might have worked better.

Sounds like a good one, Steven. I'll be watching this one with interest.
An "Atta Boy!" and a hearty pat on the back for doing this.

I do pretty good up to about 15 or 16 inches. Since I don't see fish bigger than that, I have a hard time guesstimating them. Where I really have trouble is estimating the weight of the fish I...

Kind of an orange bumble-ish fly.

Gandolf,
Same thing over here on the right side. It's either 60 hr work weeks, or just to damned hot. I got out last weekend for a couple of hours, and like to have ended up with heatstroke. The...
Alba,
Don't feel alone. When I first started reading here, I, too fell in love with Al's articles. When I realized the last one was a couple of years old, I started searching the archives.

I switched to an electronic cigarette 3 months ago. I feel a lot better than I used to. After 3 days, I could smell again. After 2 weeks, I qiut coughing up copious amounts of brown colored crud. ...

Bluegill,
That's him. As a matter of fact, the last one I caught was just about that size. Silly thing hit a spinner bait out in the middle of Sam Rayburn. I'm still trying to figure out what he...
I have heard of people eating goo, but I don't know how they were fixed. Possibly as a fish stew? Going by how they smell when you pull em up, I don't think I'll ever try one. They stink!

Esquire,
The jaws attach to the vice via an adapter. Both a right-hand and a left-hand adapter are included with the vice. I tie right-handed, so I can't comment as to superiority. However, it...
Al and Gretchen,
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I have been looking for a way to wing a honeybee pattern. This looks like just the ticket.

Kirk
I love those shirts. We have a tradition at work, where everybody wears a Hawaiian-flowerdy shirt on Fridays. I do it the other way around. I wear one every day EXCEPT Friday.
Between the sun...
