I have decided to start tying SW flies. I would pay a fair price for a Dyna King Barracuda Jr. and accessories. Would also like a 4wt trout taper Sharkskin in bright green. Contact me at...

I leave 3-4 rods strung up horizontally on hooks on a garage wall. I purposely include rods for different purposes and weights so I am forced quickly to adjust to each. I vary the selection but...
Read this very interesting article in the latest Gray's Sporting Journal. LINK
Capt Tony, Super news about Kate. We just got down. All settled in but the honeydo list will take a day or two. Don't know what is worse the awful cold I brought down or the Packers game we...
Another vote for the Patagonia Marlwalkers. Wear a light sock under then and they feel like wearing running shoes and offer great support and protection.
Love to do that regularly. I'll call as soon as we get down with the dogs in January. I'll bet Dusty would love to come along as well. He is one heck of a shot.
Great report Tony. We will be down for s week in December and then mid-January for the winter. Glad Ghost is doing well.
I have both the Hardy Gem Mid Arbor, 8wt, and a Hardy Sovereign 2000, 7 wt. They are wonderful reels, and operate as smoothly as any reel I have used and hold up well in the SW environment. The...
As many as I feel are valuable to me.
I us an Orvis wonderline Redfish taper line in 10 wt on my 9 wt Xi2, and the same line in 9 wt on my 8 wt Xi2. I also use SA Wet tip intermediate sink tips of the rated weights for each rod.
FWIW, I have Xi2's in 8, 9, 10 and 12. I really like them all, but to me at least the 9 wt seems to be special.
I have a 8'2" for 6 wt Hardy Smuggler. 7 pieces with spigot ferrules. It is a wonderful medium action, think Winston WT, trout rod.
I have a size 2 evolution on my B2x with a cigar grip, a size 3.5 on my 8wt B2x with a full wells grip and a 3.0 on my TCR with a full wells grip. IMO backing capacity aside doesn't matter on a 5 wt...
whay alaskanfishguides said. Thank you Vets.
My part of Michigan is very warm and the water is low and warm so I am thinking of some footwear for wet wading. Being a real fan of Keen sandals the Simms/Keen felt soled sandals look great. ...
I have that rod in 6 and 8 weights and use Rio Clouser lines in the rated weights to throw typical big bass flies. The combination works well and I agree with David D, there is no need to over-line...
Rawthumbs, nice Rainbow. Sure looks like more than a match for an 8 wt. I can only dream about catching a fish like that.
Yes, bird dogs, upland birds, double guns and fly fishing sure can fill...
Thanks for all the good suggestions. The last post said it all, aren't we fortunate to have so many wonderful choices.
Rawthumb, I especially appreciated your comments. I know this rod might not...
I am looking for a reel to go with a Sage TCR 691 for heavy Alaskan trout, big river smallies and light saltwater(reds, snook and maybe bones) use. Right now I am considering both the Ross Evolution...
Until there is a seperate third party standards organization IMO it is not useful to compare rod desigations from one maker to another. I am not advocating this because I think it is more fun, and...
I just visited my local fly shop and noticed the subject reels. I was amazed at the low price for the reels and particularly for the spare spools. The shop owner uses them for his Tarpon clients and...
