Ahh, my bad. We'll be in Pennsylvania actually for our Canadian Victoria Day so the 18-22nd pretty much. We don't know where we're going yet, but looking to fish some small streams and rivers (not...
Can anybody reccomend any rivers or flies in Pennsylvania? I'm going there with my family this summer and I'll be doing some fishing. Obviously. So where should I go??
Thanks,
Rob
i used to use the Great Canadian Dubbing Company's Burnt Orange Australian Oppossum dubbing, but now i use the stuff i got at Fran's shop,,, there's no replacement.
i got a new Battenkill Mid-Arbour Titanium reel for christmas,,, only its for a 9-10 weight rod/ line, and my rod is a six weight (though handles like a seven weight) is it worth the hassle to take...
1) An Islander Reel
2) A Hardy Reel
3) A Winston Fly Rod
4) Cree Hackle
that's what i would be getting
best wishes,

Looking to make the trek around Toronto (maybe Gannie or Credit) to catch salmon. I am a complete rookie though. Anywhere we might have a chance of catching one fish for a weekend of fishing with a...
I see that as a coincidence. Browns will take nymphs just as readily... actually more readily as it is well over 50% of their diet... as dries.
Brown crystal wooly bugger with brown/ orange emu palmer works like a charm. Throw some flash or peacock or Sili legs out the back and tie it with dumbbells as a keel.

two piece is too big in my travel experiences... Sky Service made us part with our rods on our way to Portugal... nippers is worth the risk though i doubt theyre allowed, but flies would be a shame...
I love ridge lines, my airflo is the best line i have ever had and after using it, would probably never use another. The ridges aren't very pronounced, which makes dirt and grime less of an issue.
What is the major difference between a 9' and 10' 5-weight medium action rod. What are the upsides and downsides and the major situational strenghts of each??? Thanks

Has anybody ever fly fished for Muskie??? I think it can be done (even if it's hard) but i need some serious tutelage. When, with what and where would i fish for them. I've found out a little,...
Out-of-towners will often get the best spots because the guide knows (or thinks) that said out of towner won't be coming back very often to pound their spot. I'm not telling you to pretend to be an...
Either Poly Post or Hi Vis are my favourites, though i use general Polypropelene yarn, CDC and calf tail for parachutes. In cloudy conditions i like an all black mayfly, often the lack of sun will...
Try buying a real silk line, they are 200-300 bucks but work great with bamboo rods... other options would be the Cortland Sylk, but i strongly reccomend an Airflo Ridgeline, for a rod as good as...
What is the best five weight reel between or under $150 and $200??? I am looking at a G Loomis Venture reel or something similar... any other options???
Thanks
The article mentions one kid will be on Team USA U19, my brother and I will see him there on Team Canada.
Has anyone ever done it? What are some good flies?
Thanks,
RL
Hey everyone, i was looking at buying a 4 pc 3wt rod under $200, along with a small reel and new line. I fish generally for bass and pike, but enjoy spring fishing for crappies, sunfish and smaller...
Thanks alot everyone!!! I knew i could turn to FAOL! I went to the hook and hackle site but can't find any kit under $97.75 US, am i looking in the wrong place?????
I have recently expressed an interest in building my own rods, as it may be an excellent way to pass time during the winter, make a little money and build an army of five weight rods of different...

Nice Thread Buddy!
My perfect fly shop would be located where it is now (a couple of blocks from school, a short bike ride along the bike path, and a good place to find the river from)
My...
