I didn't see any mention of the optional extension arm for the Danvise. I recomend it for the extra space it provides, making the vise easier and more comfortable to use.

I like to buy some from the local fly shop when I go in for advice or to chat, otherwise I tie almost all of mine.
You translated correctly, Ed. It's been getting all the way down to the 70's. It got down to the 40's this morning. Brrrr! We had to put on extra layers of clothing. I'm with crazy4oldcars when it...
There's a chill in the air here in Texas. Cool weather has been off and on for a few weeks. I'm going to start fishing the ponds, hopefully this week, as they will be the first to cool down. ...
You,ve convinced me to tie some of these. It looks like yellow body and red tail are favorite colors. I think I have some red antron. Does anyone have other colors they recommend?
Thanks for...
Rick, It's not the water temp's in Texas that are too hot. It's the air temp's that are keeping this wimpy angler in his air conditioned home. As for trout fishing, the water temp's at the two...
It feels good just looking at those pictures. I think I'll folow Eight Thumbs lead and use one as my desktop. For those of us in 95 degree temp's, I gues it's either wet wade or float tube to stay...
Thanks, Fly Goddess
This is so uplifting. I spent the whole evening doing research about life and happiness, and still had not found what I was looking for. Tired and frustrated, I decided to...
My wife got me this book when I was going through my quarter-life crisis. I really enjoyed it. It boosted my spirits then, but it couldn't put a dent in the mid-life crisis I'm going through now. ...
CJ,
I agree with the flies Jeff recommends. For clousers, red, olive or purple over white work well for me. Like Buddy wrote, you really don't need many flies for bass. But if you enjoy tying,...
WWFF,
I also have a Danvise with an extension arm. The extension seemed small when it arrived, but made a big difference. Much more pleasant to tie with now. More room for the large/long bass...
Great idea Bamboozle. And Jack, I'm definitely going to try the Castwell knot. Probably next week when I scout some nearby brushy creeks.
backwoods, I saw some braided loops made by Airflo. ...
backwoods,
I used store bought braided loops for years without problems until last Sunday. That's when the loop on my daughter's line came undone. She was left with a straight piece of braided...
ggmiller,
The folks on the Red River Fly Fishers site can tell you about fy fishig Lake Texoma and its tailrace. They may also have information about the Red River just north of Wichita Falls.

I really like the looks of these flies. I ddn't really care for the palmered look until I saw these. I'm going to pull out my starling and try tying a few.
Thanks for sharing.

Ottodita,
You can use that rod for trout. I used an 8wt rod on trout for a while because it was the only 9' rod I had. I cast flies as small as #22 using that rod, and caught some nice trout.

hoboflyfisher,
If RRhyne doesn?t mind, I?ll take the liberty of trying to answer your question about bend-backs.
First, of course, there a many instructions with pictures on the web for making...
It looks like you're gonna have to do some experimenting. Should be worth it for the bass you describe.
The Stickguard looks like it would shed weeds just like Bear742 describes.
I wonder if...
Thanks for the video TxEngr. Very helpful.
And thanks for the compliment Robin. I'd add some pictures, but I can't find the darn camera.

Art Scheck, in his book ?Tying Better Flies?, describes a method of tying a mono weed guard that I really like. He writes that Ed Jaworowski also wrote about this method.
The monofilament is tied...
Ron,
Castwell's instructions are about as simple and straight forward as any I've read.
My favorite DVD is "Lefty Kreh on Fly Casting". It's also very simple and straight forward.
Also,...
Very nice! Thanks for sharing, Flyguy. Those pics are just the incentive I needed to get back on the water.
Appearantly a strong majority of scientific organizations around the world agree that human activities are contributing to global warming in ways that cannot be attributed to nature.

SquatchHunter,
I've seen references to them being used for fishing, though I have no experience with them.
The crackleback wooly worm might make a good imitation.
