We had 12 inches a week ago in SE MN, but most of it has melted away.
Yea, its a lot of money. I was going to use the cash I got for my 50th birthday to buy something special that I'd never be able to afford on my own.
Anyone have experience with the Filson Rucksack? I am attracted to the retro appeal of the pack. I plan to use it around town, on day hikes and on short day hikes to mountain lakes teaming with...
Hey! Thanks to everyone for this great discussion and comments on wading staffs. It is more than I had hoped for and it has helped to make my decision on staffs. Thanks again!
I am 6 ft. tall and wonder if the 59 inch staff will be too tall. Thanks for any input.
I have similar problems. I am trying the C&F threaders and a Tie Fast knot tool. I've only been out once, but so far the system is working nice.
I have the now discontinued Simms guide waist-highs. They are great and I've never needed more on my home streams. I also use the Patagonia Deep Wading Jacket, which is cut short, but still...
I guess I'd be woried about infection. I'd see a doctor just in case.
15 min to the Whitewater in SE Min and browns/bows/brookies, 7 min to largemouth etc.
I try to keep it relatively simple and carry 2 to 4 of each pattern, a total of about 200 flies on the water, all in one C&F waterproof box. In the winter season I carry much less.
Thanks for all your help!! I'll check-out your suggestions, and I'm sure to find one that works. (PS to RG/AR: my tremor is "intention" tremor and there are no drugs for this. But armed with the...
Does anyone have luck with knot tying tools? I have hand tremors and tying knots has become next to imposible. Any suggestions which brands work good? Thanks.
Sorry, Leonard, but the season here ended 30 September. On top of that we just had 3 inches of snow, the wind is blowing hard and the low tonight will be just 6 degrees!
I was teaching my som (11) fly fishing in a good sized pool on a small river. Just up stream from us was a man (about 50) spin casting with worms and a bobber. The man pulled 6 fish about 12 inches...
I just got back from the Big Horn Mtns. Fish were rising everywhere and all the time. I fished Royal Wulfs, Irresistables and Renegades. Caught a lot of fish, including a 14 inch brown! Good luck.
Driving past a farm on a dirt road, I spied an old travel trailer hunkered down in the weeds near an equally old manure spreader. I drove down the long drive between rows of knee high corn, and the...
I am wondering if neoprene wet wading socks (Simms, Orvis, Cabela's) are worth the purchase and why. Are there alternatives. Thanks for your thoughts.
I was swinging a nymph and it was downstream when the fish struck. Maybe also I did not set the hook well - I was not using an indicator.
I am not an atheist, but I think the quote would be offensive to those that are. The quote is inopropriate and should be removed.
Twice now I have had a relatively big fish on line, and both times I've lost them. I've kept my line tight after I set the hook, and the fish came to the surface, rolled over, and threw my hook. ...
Can anyone recommend a cluster of high mountain lakes in the Wind Rivers that have easy access? Also the name of the hike-in point? Many thanks.
I'm a newbie, and wondering how I should change my tactics when there is a light rain falling on the river? Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks Hex. We should all take a stand and speak out against right wing extremist organizations such as the National Alliance.
Thanks. I have considered Korkers, but it would cost me $190 to get the two types of aquastealth soles, and that is just too much money. Also, I think the hiking boot style of the Bean boots might...
