I'm going to tie some clouser minnows with stinger hooks. All I have seen is them tied with 30 lb braided line (big $$$) of course I do not have any so can I use 30 lb mono instead ???

After reading your post I looked in my trash collector I did tie Tip first I just did not fold the hackle hard enough..
looks like I need to work on that alittle ..

Here you go got taught this in class last night!! Tying Elk Hair is a pain in the Butt !! I need to work with a hair stacker more to get use to it !!
