I checked it out. You're right. Great photo. Unfortunately the quote from A River Runs Through It just above the photo has a line omitted and as a result makes no sense.

This is the point. The high-end rods are better. They're lighter, crisper, more responsive, recover faster, and most have nicer components. But the way to think about it is if the best fly rods cost...
I can't speak for whether removal of the brookies is needed (i.e., does the number present threaten native cutthroat populations?), but I can tell you electrofishing is not an effective way to remove...
I have the Simms G3s. Have no experience with any of the others, so I can't compare. But I love the G3s. They fit well and are comfortable. Have a wide belt with a sturdy plactic buckle that's...
I had and tried a 6wt switch rod briefly, and came to suspect the "switch" concept is highly overrated. You can cast them overhead, but, believe me, you don't want to. People may or may not find a...
Winston microspey. Not a recommendation. Just pointing out they are available.
Don't have the 4640, but my 3250 and 3280 are both right at 2 1/2 inches.
Well, be sure to build in one of those release gizmos so your name doesn't take on a more sinister meaning;)
Is it just a coincidence your name is hungNtree?
I haven't cast the G, but yes, I would say the A4 is medium-fast.
Don't let me turn you off on the Response. It struck me as a really nice rod at that price point. It's just the difference between the fast and more moderate action. And I was casting 6 wts rather...
I cast the A4 and the Response 6 wts at the Denver fly fishing show. I wouldn't say I cast them side by side, though. As has been pointed out, the main difference is that the Response is a faster,...
From the report: "We refuse to test any private labeled rods (Ex. Cabelas, LL Bean, Bass Pro Shops etc)."
And: "Redington Link and other rods - Heavy and not very impressive. "
Have some big terrestrials: Chernobyl ants, Fat Alberts, etc.
I've got rods at both the higher and more moderate price points, and I've cast a lot more. My observation is that the top-of-the-line rods are better. To me they feel lighter, crisper, and have a...
There are some great opportunities in the late evening. Don't waste them fishing.;)
Good info at ifly4trout.com.
Unless you're stripping streamers or wets on a tight line, if you're waiting to feel the strike, you're missing 80+ percent of them. You should be *watching* the fly (dry), indicator or line/leader...

Don't really know. I always tied and fished the plain Pheasant Tail without adornment. It worked. Don't know if adding a bead or flashback would work better. I wouldn't get too fancy.
Keep the Pheasant Tails sparse and skinny. Might include some #20s. It's a great river. Hope he has a good time.

Took both to get much through the nozzle. Like I said, was a cheap one. Maybe they're better now.
Late June is sorta between the BWO (#18-#20) and the PMD activity (#16). You could find some of either. Good advice on visiting the local shops, but if you tied him a bunch of #18 RS2s and/or...
I tried to use one of the filter bottles a few years ago. The problem was I couldn't suck enough water through the thing to get a good drink. And what water did come through tended to go right down...
Any chance the reel is set up wrong (LH vs. RH retrieve) for the way the line is wound onto the spool.
