Hi Byron, et al,

Question is, what exactly happened to Pete?
Good looking pattern, Scott. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Hans W
Lots of views, Scott, but no comments. Surely it is not a too alien a pattern to scare some North American trout?
Cheers,
Hans W
Scott,
Nice one.
You may or may not be familiar with a fly design called Glanrhos, which utilizes a single feather to do hackle then wing, producing a very similar effect.
Here is a video...
Byron,
*chuckle*
I do use the technique - often

Hi Scott,
The Timberline Emerger was my favorite pattern - it ticked my boxes - when I read through that Kaufmann book so many moons ago now. Thanks for the memory revival

Thanks Bruce,
Here is the proof of the pudding...

Bruce,
Really odd. I had retyped the relevant section in the .sig - same outcome.
Color me confused,
Hans W
I already had tried that before, the updating of the .sig in my profile. No idea why the link comes out truncated. Suggestions very welcome.
Cheers,

Hi Bruce,
Color me confused - where am I overlooking the .sig error:

It comes up fine for me, Dave
Hi Ed,
Though Neil and I have been tying at several shows together, never side by side - I cannot recall actually having seen him tie a Funneldun from start to finish. His books and several...
*chuckle* amen to that
Well done, Alberto! (Long time no talk, btw. You look pretty happy, as does Peggy  )
Perhaps a small thing, but a suggestion nonetheless for another time. Very good choice of shirt, but...
Perhaps. He has little problem with the CDC&Elk - on account of the deer hair wing

Hi George,
Bob and I have been friends for quite a few years. Our respective thoughts and opinions on fly design and trout behavior are very very similar - to the extent that I would be hard...
*chuckle*
Rumors of my demise are (fortunately) greatly exaggerated.
Alive and doing well, thanks.
There may even be a couple new videos in the near future
Regards to all.
Hi Jeff,
No, it is not a good sub for Hungarian partridge - no distinct mottling, much finer taper in the barbs - but it is a superb hackle in its own right, very easy to work with and very...

I replaced it with an HMH Premium, because that was the better vise (at over twice the price) - for me.
The HMH Premium in turn got replaced by the LAW Bench vise, because... well, you get the...
Memory lane indeed, Byron.
The Xuron was the second vise I bought, and I tied on it, hard, for two/three years - before replacing it with an HMH Premium.
I bought my Xuron off Eric Leiser's The...
Hi Byron,
How do you find the hook holding ability in the larger hook sizes? The jaws appear to close from the back towards the tips, is this correct? I am also curious what the inside surface of...
LC,
All depends how the hackle is tied in (tip or butt) and in which direction (towards eye, or towards bend) it is wrapped. The heads on my flies, also the ones tied in with barbs stripped from...
Hen saddle, mallard hen breast feather, or chukkar, or grey partridge - all will work.
