The needles do look to be kind of small, the tool I use has a pretty stout pin in the middle with two smaller ones to each side. When I bought it, the owner told me not to use it for turning cork...

I bought the bit, and I used some fine mesh pulled tight over the body and a can of spray paint to do the scales. And thank you !

Wrap the hook with thread.

Wrap hook with thread, it gives the foam a decent base to adhere to.
