My opinion- trolling with fly tackle does not equal fly fishing. Fly fishing is about the action, the mechanics. Just so happens that it takes special gear to make all that stuff happen. If you...
Yeah, I go after them all the time. In fact, carp are about all I fish for most of the time. I C&R all the time because I don't have anything better to do with them. But, if you feel you must, the...
The twist is caused because the flies aren't balanced. More material (drag) on one side than the other will make the fly spin during casting.
Your options- use flies with better symmetry, use...
I'll jump on board if it's alright with you, Blue. Pattern TBA.
Big seaducers make bass happy, sometimes (just like anything else).
That 5 weight is plenty. It's not the size of the boat, it's the motion of the ocean.
I have used the castwell in a pinch for light-duty stuff and it held up satisfactorily. I haven't tried it under unkind conditions, though.
You might consider the albright for line-leader and...

Are we still on for the 13th or 14th?
Dang! Wish I could have been there this year! But I have had sooo little time to even tie flies for myself this year, much less tie them for other folks. . . bah humbug.
A WF line is not a crutch for beginning casters. It is a valuable tool for casters of all ablities. It is designed with a purpose, and it does things a level line can not.
The fat end points at the fishy.
Blue,
Close quarters fishing is one of the reasons I like the light rod so much. The short length is easy to handle. Much of my carping is done in tall grass, cattails, and flooded trees and...
Blue, you can get 'em with a 2 weight. My 6'6" two is my favorite weapon for carp.
Second the Natives. Dash XPs fit my narrow noggin, and the lenses are nice and wide, good coverage of the eyes for safety.

Half or more of my bass flies are tied on salty irons. As stated above, they fall out just fine. Go for it.
My usual carp fare is 0X - 3X. On rare occasion I will go lighter, usually because the fly won't fit on heavier tippet.
Welcome back, Bob http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif
Ronn has it. Nuke those suckers. . . with a bug bomb. Terminate with extreme prejudice. They're trying to eat your hard earned materials, they might as well be trying to eat you!
Kind of depends on how heavy the streamer was. The motions for casting a heavy fly are a little different. Some folks call it "chuck and duck". Just play with it a while until you're comfortable....
An emphatic yes. During the summer, I fish for carp almost exclusively. And these days it's getting to be that way in the other months of the year too.
I tie and fish baby clousers down to #16. Believe it or not, little fish eat littler fish http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/wink.gif And sometimes the big fish eat 'em too.
Yup, that is an alligator gar. Anybody else find it ironic that that picture was put out by "aim low productions"? Gator gars that big are becoming increasingly rare, and seeing them killed for...
Tonight it was long grain and wild rice with a tomato-based sauce and chunked tuna meat. Not the nicest meal in the world, but sure beats pizza or ramen noodles for a college student.
