Yes I have one too and liked it very much. The spring has broken and I cannot use it any longer so I suppose I'll have to send it in for a repair job. It is a very nice tool indeed!

*great* pattern and pix! Will try that one for sure! Thanks Scott
@Bugsy: Thanks! it's a great fishing fly for faster water. Sinks better than normal softhackles.
@Alberto: yes, I like the technique a lot. It was Marc Petitjean who showed it to me many moons ago...
Yes, what the other guys said. You can use a bobbin but only in combination with the rotary feature. Works like a charm that way. This is a #16 hook and fine diameter wire

Bugsy and Planettrout,
Splendid flies, thanks for the inspiration! I'm definitely going to tie those!
Thanks, Bugsy. I've used it for a caddis pattern in Germany :-)
My hook is a #14 Daiichi 1180

And there's the Hot Creek Caddis of course!

Great proportions, clean tying - love it! Now where's my woodchuck hiding?
They are nice for spent wing patterns though.
I think that it is a single so-called Origami wing.
Does it look anything like this:

Here's my Close-up SBS of The Dyret (Norwegian for 'the beast'): Gunnar Bingen's rough water caddis.
Enjoy!

Nice twist to two great patterns!
Thanks, Ed!
You're welcome Scott! Glad you like it!

Just uploaded a close-up video SBS of the Grizzly Wulff.
Happy tying!

Good stuff. Use it for posts and strike indicators but on a fly Snowshoe Hare is superior in floatability
One of my favorites is Early Season Cow Elk from Nature's Spirit. This hair is a bit stiffer than deer and other elk hair I used and does not flare too much under pressure. That also works well for...
very nice technique, Scott!
That's a great looking streamer!
I use a gallows. Actually my gallows is a piece of bungee cord with two hooks snelled onto it. One of the hooks attached to my tying lamp and the other holds up the loop of (doubled) poly yarn
Bruce,
I did an article on the technique a while ago. Maybe it's useful. You can find it here: http://globalflyfisher.com/patterns/marts-peccary-paraloop-emerger
Best,

Yes, herefishy, the Daiichi hooks are true to size. The 1167 #16 is 1 centimeter from hook eye to the apex of the bend.
I love those hooks!

I always bring things to tie 4 to 5 flies (ok, plus some extra stuff that comes in handy), all materials for one fly in a separate Ziplock to avoid having to go through all my stuff looking for a...
PP quills are quite stiff. If it's wrapped bodies you want, maybe you'll like peccary:

very nice, esp the leggy pattern!
