I tell people if you are going to fly fish from a canoe or a kayak to practice your casting from setting on a 5 gal bucket. It helps a lot. :lol:

Yes trolling from a canoe or kayak works well. You want streamer flies for this and a lot of time. LOL It can be slow but it does produce fish. Early spring here just after ice out is the best to do...

I advertize as a full time guide. But it is only a seasonal think so it is part time. I do a lot of odd jobs on the side to make ends meet.
GLS is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Acadia.
There are lakes on MDI that hold salmon and such if that is what you are after.
Acadia is a great place to stay and is very pretty but it is also very pricey.
You could book a motel in the city of Ellsworth and Acadia is only about 20 minutes away.
Deer Isle is about an hour...
Maine is good that time of year, and there are a lot of cabins to choose from.

Both, salmon can be just under the water depending the the temp of the water, and time of year, or they can be down deep.

You could use the kayak and troll streamers. Use a full sinking line. I have done this for brookies and it works.
