I've always liked my 9 foot 6 wgt for Smallies but at 73 years of age its a bit of trouble to wave it for very long. Since the SMB in this river average on the small side, I'll go to an 8 1/2 ft 3 wgt this season. ' might even go to my 1 wgt when the riffs are full of little ones after the frost arrives.
Answer: 9 ft 6 wgt Fisher until I got old and Arthur caught up to me.

My favorite is an 8 1/2 foot 7 wt. Browning Diana. It will throw nearly anything. I have many rods much more expensive, but that one seems to have been built just for me and all my casting flaws.

Hard one. I have to pick a rod that will work for me when I'm kayak camping so I'd have to go with a 4 piece 9ft 5/6 wt with a 6 wt line and a 5wt on a spare spool. My Red.start will do nicely. On the other hand, I don't love how it casts. But at least it fits in the boat when I'm paddling all day.

I'll call my Scott Heli-Ply 8'8" 9wt my one bass rod. Not the absolute fastest rod out there, but LOOOOOONG on backbone. The perfect bass rod in my opinion.
-
that is so hard to answer. I have a few fly rods but have not fished so many others. I guess for now I'll have to stick with what I've got until I can get some more "time on rod" with enough other rods to make up my mind.

I built a 9" 6wt from a kit purchased from C*****'s. I don't know what I did right, but it sure turned out nice. The most important thing is to please yourself. No body else really matters. Good Luck.

Here in Georgia, I fish on a lake with Stripers, Spotted and Largemouth Bass. Althought the bass are not always large tossing a large bug or controlling a fast moving fish requires backbone. This is why I use an 8WT. After loosing several fish on my 5WT, I switched to an 8WT and have not lost one since.

I like my Temple Fork Outfitters 9' 7 wt. with a Tioga LA reel. It's a 4 pc rod so it is convient for travel, and light enough I can cast it all day.
