Betty, Dan has a very screwy way of listing his e-mail address on his web site. The label is not the e-mail address. His email address link is actually:
danfisherman@earthlink.net
If you typed in the listed e-mail address it might explain the problem. If that's the case it is certainly not your fault. Dan should have that corrected.

Hey Betty, Better cool off before someone throws water on 'ya...then you will really feel like a potted plant! http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif I thought stuff like the computer snafu only happened to me. I can't believe the 200 flies in 7 hours and no acknowledgement. That is beyond belief..Hang in there, We still love you.

that is nuts. Betty, you tie beautiful flies. I cannot bear to fish your swap flies because they are perfect.

Hi Betty,
I just wanted to respond to the second situation you described. It's a shame that no one, among the organizers of that event, thought to take 15 seconds and simply acknowledge your efforts with a public 'thank you'. Two simple words that have such a profound effect.

Hey Betty, I feel your pain! The
potted plant syndrome" I mean. For quite a few years my fishing club (which is way out of my way with others closer) gave casting clinics in the spring and fall. They asked me to tie at them a few months before each one and I always made time to do it. They also have a six or eight lesson tying class each year which they always asked ahead of time if I would do one of the classes. I gladly accepted to do the last class. Last because supposedly by then, everyone would know how to attach thread to a hook at the very least.
Well, they started to just assume I would do them and stopped asking. I really can't recall if I was thanked but probably was a few times. The last straw was the night of the class, I got a call wondering if I was going to make it! I didn't even know there was a class that night! How could I? No sorry, thought you knew, nothin. I burned rubber driving the twenty or so miles and just did make the start of my session. That was the last club function I attended and I no longer belong to the club.
Just a simple thanks is about all we want. I realize that we're all volunteers in the club events and maybe since we aren't paid, it is the thanks that is the pay off. Everyone needs to think their efforts are appreciated and too often this simple gesture is overlooked. Too bad.
So Betty, watch it on the fertilizer and don't over water yourself! LOL
Happy Trails!

I wonder what causes you to think I haven't read the book? Have you been peeking at my book case again?
But, you are right I have not read it completely. I have only browsed through it and didn't find enough thoughtful comments in the book to make it worth reading from cover to cover.

Betty, I don't blame you a bit! I am normally mild mannered & give folks/businesses ample time to react, BUT...
Computer store...I'd confront the store manager, but I would make DAMN sure it is on the sales floor, in front of potential customers, where I could vocalize their indifferent attitude & cost 'em $$$ !!!
Kid's Day...That is disgusting! We know you didn't tie those flies so you could get your name in lights, but GEE, some appreciation was warranted.
Go ahead...VENT & then VENT some more!
