"To give a blanket condemnation of our society is an insult to both those who have gone before and gave their blood, sweat and lives to make positive changes and to those who come after me and have to try and deal with and fix all of my mistakes and bad choices."
I had a choice when I wrote this and I decided to limit the mistakes and bad choices of my times to myself (or my own) so I choose "me" instead of "our". I'm kinda a sticker about personal responsibility sometimes. I don't really understand how you read it that "I was saving the world"? The blood sweat and lives refers to our predecessors and ancestors who did the best they could and lamented the simpler times of their youth as well.
