Rubber handle the way to go...
Got tired of knife slipping when hands got wet and cutting myself on occasion;so, went to a rubber handled Kershaw, short folding blade that goes into pocket or vest. Broke blade tip by bad habit of also using it when I needed a screwdriver and none available on stream. ;) So, I'm on a second Kershaw now.
For deer hunting found a neat Sheffield (UK brand) folding blade, one hand opening/closing if needed, with an internal light available too. Dealing with an occasional late gutting/skinning job after dark this one works great being able to see right at the knife tip with the internal light available. Hat light is good too but the knife light at the point of knife is great.
