There should be a little bit trimmed off and available for fly tying, but we limit that. The way the hide is cut off has a lot to do with how much the taxidermist has to trim. Standard cut for example is heel to heel and up the belly. There is a lot of nice hide left dangling from the belly flaps that way. We cut well forward of the vent and then cut each direction down the centerline.
The nice full hide is now left on the back end of the hide where it makes a neat scallop on each side leaving little to nothing to trim off the belly flap...
But I will keep you in mind! ;)
