Bill Houk, it was your St. Patrick :) It worked great for brookies in my neck of the woods this past summer.

Does Peacock Herl count or does it have to be Sword?
I will get back in the game haven't done a swap in a while so will need refreshed on rules but I will put in a favorite...the yellow crackle back...an all purpose fly than can be fished dry wet skating and have caught crappie brim trout and bass on it. Let me know due date and address.

Sword is different than herl.

You are certainly welcome to join the swap.
This was a monthly swap, where each month, the designated swapmeister for that month picks the theme. For December, the host is RickZ, and he has picked the theme of Peacock Sword. That means all flies sent in must contain Peacock Sword for some part of it.
Since December is the last month for this years Swap of The Month, you won't have to commit to a set of flies each month. We will have a new sign-up in Jan 2013 for the next year.
If this is agreeable to you, you'll need to tie 9 flies, and send them to RickZ with toe tags, return envelope and postage.
There is a difference, and they are not interchangeable. Although most commercial peacock feather come from the India Blue Peafowl, there are different feathers on the bird. The most commonly used feather consists of long quills from the tail of a male bird, with many fibers, called 'herl', and may even contain the 'eye' part of the tail near the end. Peacock Sword comes from the sides of the bird, is shorter, denser and differently colored. Peacock sword is commonly used as an over-wing on streamers, because it is not as delicate as herl.
Off to the fly shop I go! Aww bummer?
Flies will be in the mail - going to Post Office on lunch break
