Feather earrings have been around for a coons age. I doubt they'll use saddle hackle (my favorite) for this, and stick with the strung type stuff.

Feathers are used for a ton of home decoration and arts and crafts. Look in the dried flowers at Hobby Lobby, it's a great place to pick up biot and dyed pheasant, if you can find the colors you like. I bought an ostrich feather from them last month, they had some hot pink ostrich but I could not envision what I would do with it since they took out my stripper pole.
Secretary here at work had on feather ear rings yesterday. That's the first I've seen of that. Hope its not a new trend
I've been after our local Gander Mountain to get in fly tying material for a few years now. No such luck. A couple months ago I saw some at the check out register and asked why they weren't in the "fly fishing department"(all 1/4 row of shelving of the whole store). The reply I got: "Oh girls put those in their hair". So Gander will get stuff in for a fad but not fishermen? Lost even more faith in Gander Mtn.......which I lovingly refer to as "Squander Mtn".
My students say it's over. High school girls are the true judge of trends. They say it was a summer thing...and too many old people doing it. This means that it will take a few more months for the rest of the nation, usually...hopefully not long enough for a summer ressurection.
It's not over. It's even worse. Now I'm seeing them used in cloths design.
I was at Walgreen's over the weekend and saw their faux extension packs. Looked like they were using woolly bugger hackle.
IN the Hook & Hackle catalogue it was suggested we buy all the hair wigs, for clousers ect, to make a shortage of those.

My niece wants some for Christmas. I can spare some saddle feathers for her.
I was in a fishing tackle store (not fly shop) the other day and they had packages of three feathers for $15.
It's going to take awhile after the fad is over for things to get back to normal.
