What was a thread about ending threads has suddenly become a thread about hats. And it didn't even require the NBOF pie-rats to do it. Arrrrrrrrrrrr Matey.
Ed, who could stand getting another FAOL hat.
NBOF, swashes buckled while you wait!

And, while this thread has gone through many changes since its' inception, you gotta admit ... those were mighty fine hats!!!!!
I've been too scared to post anything for ages as I was sure my main aim in life was to be a Thread Stopper. I am pleased to see I am in very good company.
I do believe it all started once long ago when a young African who had been given the job of delivering a very important letter to the council of High Chiefs atop Mt Kilimanjaro. Stubbed his toe on the climb and had to spend the night on the Mountain.
Now he knew the letter was important but the colder it got the more he looked at the Cleft Stick and the thick envelope the more temptation reared it's ugly head.
Eventually self preservation overcame his sense of duty and he started a fire to keep warm. Mission failed.
What has this to do with Thread Stoppers?? Nothing but if you read it. You could be the thread stopper if you then ignore it. Have a Merry Christmas and may the New Year bring you all you wish for yourselves and a Wee Bit More. Have Fun. Jax
Ooooo! Another challenge!
Truly, a wonderful, safe, merry Christmas to each and all!
I wish my database server would start working correctly. Not how I wanted my last day of work before the holiday to go. What? What do you mean this is a fly fishing site? This is fly fishing related. If I don't get this darn database server working I can't finish my xmas shopping and that would mean I can't go fishing this weekend. What? What do you mean this still isn't related to fishing? Of course it is. This whole deal with the database servers, the walk up Mt Kilimanjaro, what hat, Shari Lewis, it all has something to do with fly fishing. Still with me? I got to go back to work.
What were we talking about?
Well, Kerry! I'm surprised at you! Don't know so much with the Kilimanjaro, but Shari Lewis was about dubbing ... and the hat? You betha it was about flyfishing! And FAOL!!

I think those hats favor women. VEE and I each got one, and fine hats they are. VEE's hat still looks like new while mine is more than bedraggled. There are threads sticking out of mine....it just looks terrible. Of course, I have the habit of sticking flies in my hat to dry, while VEE does not. Sometimes the barbs aren't smashed as well as I thought and I break a thread or three when I forcebly remove said fly from the hat. Maybe that's why my hat looks so.....well....worn.
Mighty fine hats, Betty. Put me down for another when you get the urge to do this again.
Oh yeak, I wear my hat flyfishing. Just to keep the thread on track.
REE
Yes, Ed, it was about ending threads and now it is about hats and how Ree is ending the threads in his hat. Who knows? This may become the Never Ending Thread about hats and hat threads and hooks tearing hat threads and who knows what else?
Betty... Do you do the embroidery?
Heavens no! There is a shop close by me that does all the parochial school uniforms, and I asked them! They digitized the logo for FAOL, and their machines do the work! They were wonderful people to work with!
If REE continues to destruct his hat, I may have to do the hat thing all over again!
Keeping in the flyfishing line ... REE, you do realize that barbless hooks are available?
Hujambo.... Sijambo,
Like some others you may be so fortunate to be able to gather the materials for this fly. Not only do you have to cover the expense, you have to be physically up to the task. You may have reached the age in life when the body really doesn't respond to your youthful ambition, it could be hopeless. It is a sacred source for this material, Kilimanjaro is not a piece of cake climb for seasoned fisherman. It is above the clouds!
.. but this is where you will find the leopard carcass. Others have been there and have thankfully rationed the material they have taken. These were men of the highest ethics, passed on by previous generations.
Don't look for the leopard jowl hair that is required in your fly shops. They will only make a substitution. They will cry: " The fish don't care", but they will. It's a tough climb to 19,000 ft. but this is where you will find the leopard carcass, and no-one knows what the Leopard was doing at that altitude, but some of us do..... The Snowfly.
If you go so far, please remember those that will follow. You will only need material for one fly. It's the only shot you'll get. Say hi to Ernie for me. I think the last time we met he had on one of those FOAL funky hats.;)
