The time I spent with the wife and kid's was the best. Of course the new Tilley hat was iceing on the cake.
Church with my wife, son, 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson. Then lunch at Chili's with them. Later, 2 daughters and 7 more grandkids showed up . One had a Claimjumper Banana Creme Pie that was promptly sliced into enough pieces to make everyone happy. I got a Donkey Tee shirt that says "I'm not here. I'm far, far away" A card from my daughter in Texas and a phone call from the boy there too. I got a really neat framed, and autographed Tony Romo photograph.
Also since today was our 25th wedding anniversary they all chipped in and got us something special for that too. Jim
one card father's day card
no phone calls

Attachment 4926Saturday was my best Fathers day gift. He's my little buddy, and he'll be casting a fly rod soon enough. But right now he's still got alot of bluegills and yellow perch left waiting to run his bobber all over creation:^))
I got a nice e-mail from my daughter and her husband, then we came back across the Cascades so I could teach a fly tying class to a bunch of great 10 to 15 year old kids at the Youth Conservation anad Fly Fishing Academy. Monday we made the trip back across the mountains.
I got to wake up in my camp trailer in Island Park, load up and drive home. Wife fixed chicken cilantro lime tacos with strawberry shortcake for dessert. Cards and shirts from both my daughters. Very nice day.
I got to go to work Sunday, the last of the 3 day **** set. My gift is "in the mail", according to the youngest daughter, she didn't get to finish it quite yet. Am presently in NE for a granddaughter's 6th birthday. That makes a pretty good Father's day gift for me. Now if I can just figure out how to keep up with a 6 and a 3 year old, I will have it made.
My daughter gave me a card and one of the new pennies that has the shield on the reverse. My son gave me a Bic lighter with a largemouth bass on it. My wife got me a card and some good cigars, and a pouch of vanilla pipe tobacco. I smoked some of it last night in the Meerschaum pipe she got me last year. Good stuff!
I went to work where I shipped the essential supplies of the war fighting dads, moms too, around the world so they could perform their duties. After 10.5 hours in a blistering hot warehouse I drove home in an air conditioned car along paved highways without fear of a roadside bomb or the vehicle next to me springing an ambush.
Upon arriving home I ate a modest evening meal, spent time with Amy and Gary, took a somewhat hot shower with real soft wash cloth and towel, watched some TV, banged around on the PC, all from my comfortably air conditioned home. All without fear of an RPG or mortar attack.
After saying my prayers I crawled into a bed of nice clean linens, soft pillows and just before I nodded off to sleep I sent out one last prayer. A prayer of thanks to all of the dads, and moms, who on this day and everyday voluntarily give up these lives of luxury for ones of almost unbearable danger, depravity and hardship so you and I can live the lives of luxury under the flags of freedom.
What they gave to me is far, far move valuable than any material things I received. A belated Happy Father's Day and Happy Mother's Day to all those moms and dads who are serving in our Armed Forces. Thank you for suffering the hardships for our freedom.
