I totally agree, unless they just tell you " we are not going to make other lines for them"Quote:

The length is what I find interesting. A 7'11" rod will squeeze in under the B.A.S.S. 8' limit. I wonder if Sage is hoping that some of the bass pro's will use one in a tournament.
Does sage really want to be associated with those B.A.S.S. tournaments?
They dont exactly treat the fish they catch right, and it seems a little out there for someone like sage.
Also It's not like sage needs the name recognition that the tournaments would bring, You say sage to someone and always they know what it is ( if there a Flyfisherman/woman) of course.
I don't know if they want to be associated with the tournaments or not, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind selling some fly rods to a new market. Just a fraction of the bass market would still be huge.Quote:

GOOD point.Quote:

I personally don't have a problem with the length. I have frequently wished I had shorter rods and I find the idea a return to the "old school" (in their books, both Tom Nixon and AD Livingston recommend rods of around 8ft).
Last time I went out on the lake, I was armed with my 10wt because I was casting some large flies. I guess I am one that would be in "the market for this type of setup". 8)
Are you suggesting that a BASS pro would use a fly rod in a Tournament??Quote:

You're right. I just checked the B.A.S.S. regs. The other big tour (FLW) wasn't quite as clear, though. Under "Permissible Fishing Methods", they only say that bass must be caught in a "conventional, sporting manner". Only trolling and live bait were clearly prohibited.Quote:

If it were legal and the pro thought it would give him an edge on the competition, you can be certain he would use it.Quote:
