I have tried 3 or 4 over the years and Glide is my preference.
Thanks for the input guys.
I keep getting the same answer on two different boards.
Guess I?ll have to order a bottle of Zip Cast and try it out.
Thanks again,
DickM.
Well, Zip Cast has got one of the greatest behind it! Good enough for him, good enough for me. I will give it a Zip.....Cast. 8)
fishin fool,
If your doing things wrong..than so am I ....I keep a gallon of distilled water and a dishpan style stripping basket..orvis I think... :? always handy! And I use it regularly I also have got in the habit of cleaning my lines a couple times a day while fishing...not while stream fishing...but on the lakes I fish, they are so choked with coontail and milfoil and such that no line stays clean for long..no matter what dressing one applies...or what line one uses...
Speaking of cleaning lines for the definitive answer go to the "James Castwell " cronicles, look in the all past Castwell articles section. look in the first quarter of 2004 look for the February 16th, 2004 " I was wrong about cleaning lines " by our stalwart JC.
When you are finished reading this gem of wisedom you will have achieved wisdom grasshopper.
Sorry I don't know how to paste a link to it.
ps. it is probably the only time you will see in print an admission by His grande poo bah ness that he was actually wrong. hee hee.

Bill,
ZipCast conditions and cleans your line all in one pass. While you are fishing all you have to do is treat the length of line you usually cast by first drying your line with a cloth. Then apply by stripping your line out on the grass, put a few drops on a soft cloth and pinch around your line, then reel the line back in. That is all there is to it. If your line is very dirty a couple passes may be needed. You will notice a huge difference in how easily your line shoots and how well it floats or sinks if you are using a sinking line.

I've been using Armor-all for over 20 years and think it does a good job of cleaning, preserving and providing a slick finish.
After reading the post on this thread, I may have to try Zipcast.
I clean my line the evening before I got out...every time now.
I used to be lazy , doing it every few times out but it does make a sig. difference. I also do a lot of lawn casting for improvement. I clean the line every other time out with ZipCast one time and the next time a moist cloth to remove dirt etc. Makes a big difference.
With the improvements to your floatability and ease of casts, I can't understand letting such an important thing get away from you. Get into the habit...you'll find you'll be happier and your casts will improve. They will!
I use SA cleaner when I fish, on a used-up Cortland pad that I keep in one of those little plastic packets hooks come in. I prefer it to ZipCast altho ZC does a nice job for my "lawn lessons".

Speaking of lawn casting....It seems to me that lines get dirtier faster than water casting....would be a good opportunity for those of you that have several cleaners on hand to do some comparisons...personally I just have Zipcast.
