I love the stuff! It dubs like butter, adds color, and sinks proportion to the amount tied on.
I like it on flies where I need to add wt but not the bulk of wire both of these were tied with qk descent:

I will add that it does add weight but lead, or wire I believe weigh more...but it better than no weight.
The name is all empty Hype! The material is finely shreded aluminum and weighes very very little more than most other dubbing materials. For the amount used on most flies any contribution to the sink rate of your fly will be insignificant.
Dubbing with the material is easy as you can bend it around the thread where it will stay put.
Brilliant stuff. Sinks like lead, dubs like a dream. Try it as the dubbing on the tail end of an emerger pattern with a floating dubbing at the thorax end, and see how it floats tail down.
I also like the stuff. It does dub easily and I do believe it does help the sink rate as it does not need to absorb water at first to sink. It is also very durable and has a nice sparkle to it. The fish also seem to like it and that is all I need.
The first few flies I tied with this stuff floated.... so I never put much faith in it's sinking ability but I do like the way it looks and dubs.
