When a fly is described as "a spey style variation", as in some of the Fly of the Week patterns, what does it mean ?

Also- look here on FAOL under Atlantic Salmon tying, then go to Spey Flies. Ronn Lucas not only has some great examples of the flies, but step by step instruction on "how to". He is also a FAOL sponsor for good spey fly feathers and will tolerate numerous email requests for help in instruction (I bugged the heck out of him for help) :D
